Does anyone know how much discount DVC members get on room rates?'

For example if I wanted to pay for a Fri and Sat night stay at SSR instead of using my points, how much discount would I get?

Many thanks

DVC discount is 25% off the "rack rates".

Be aware that there are only so many rooms at a discount after that it is rack rate.

Thanks guys

How do I go about getting a price for a room?

Do I have to call Member Services?
Any advice as to how to get the best rate?

Many thanks

Member Services are the only people who can offer the rate, and it can be linked to your points stay so no checking in and out or moving of units required.

Thanks for that Claire.

Will the discount rate be applicable for other Disney Resorts as well as our DVC Resorts....for instance Disney's Port Orleans or Polynesian Resorts?

Sorry for all the questions!!

No only DVC resorts as far as I know, for other WDW resorts you need to speak to CRO.

I've had the discount a few times, but it isn't always offered as Ali indicates.

If you have an AP you could keep your eye on that rate too because sometimes it works out considerably cheaper than the DVC discount. The disadvantage of that is you end up with 3 separate reservations; 2 from MS and one from CRO but on the one occasion when we did it, we didn't have to move rooms. No guarantee of this though, but I would think it's in the resort's interest NOT to move you. I didn't get the housekeeping I was entitled to on the 2 CRO nights though - but I wasn't bothered about this.

Last time I had the DVC discount, the AP rate came out at about $10 per night cheaper so I didn't consider it to be enough of a saving to warrant the risks involved in messing around with my reservations.

Fridy and Saturday nights seem to be available more often than the other nights of the week. There seems to be more availability at SSR and OKW than the other resorts, but there is availability at the others. You never really know until you call and ask.

Also, you can always cancel the cash night - not sure how far in advance you have to do it, though. (But I think it is quite near to arrival, maybe 48 hours). So if you're thinking about booking something for cash, no harm in booking it now (if it's vailable) and deciding later. You don't have to pay for it until check in.

DBF called MS just this week to enquire about cash reservation and DVC discount at the Contemporary (we're saving some points for another big trip later this year and we really want to try the contemporary) and they were happy to help us with cost enquiry, and if we wanted to go ahead with the booking it would have been done there and then (we didn't - waiting for a close friends with Disney reservation contacts to come back with her quotes too....)
