Are there any dining discounts for DVC members at DL?

From what I read, no for the DVC members but Yes if you are an Deluxe/Premium AP holder.

Yes, and when you check in they give you a perks book. :) It's mostly a 10% discount at various restaurants in the parks and even in DTD. The perks book will detail the individual restaurants and venues.

Have a great trip!

Just off the phone with a friend who got back yesterday from the GCH villas and he said he was not given anything at check in or knew that there was such a thing. He is a new member though.
Do I need to ask for this when I am there in August.

Jack

I stayed at the villas twice last month and got it both times. I didn't ask for anything. If he made his reservations through DVC member services, it should have been on the reservation. I know it isn't offered to those who stay at the villas on cash ressies. It is only offered to members. You do have to show your DVC membership card and the room key for the restaurants to give the discount. (In my experience.)

Jack, I know that you are staying at the villas in August but you only have access to the DVC discounts if you are a DVC member. See -- another good reason to buy some VGC points. :thumbsup2

If you are a member of DVC and are staying at the villas on points they should give you a folder with all of the info. If they don't then ask.

Although we stayed on points in September I cannot remember where I put my little perk book. My DH and I just asked if they had DVC discounts at all of the restaurants and stores. Many did and some did not. I think having an AP is just as good if not better for the discounts.

So they would know that I am renting and not a member?

Jack

Yes, they would know you are not the member, and as I mentioned you do have to show your DVC member card along with your room key for the discounts. (Sometimes you also have to show them the perks booklet because many places are still unaware they offer a DVC discount. ;) )

The last time we went to DL we were DVC members but we were just staying at DLH with a cash reservation. I tried to hit up all the DVC booths I saw to see if they had the portable perks, and no one did; they just had a sheet with limited discounts (and I can't remember what any of them were). We are going to have APs too, but not the premium ones...

Can anyone give me specifics on some of the restaurants discounts though, or is there maybe a link somewhere? I'm starting to think about ADRs and whether or not we get a discount is a huge selling factor (at least to my DH!:rotfl:)

We will be there on Sunday staying on points and I will try to remember to post some of the resturants either Sunday or Monday.

We always get our perks book when we check in. We have never had to show our room key, just our DVC memember card

I have the perks book at home.... I'll try and scan it when I get home if I remember... Off the top of my head we did get discounts of 10% off at White Water Snacks, Catal, UVA Bar, Build a Bear, and the massage place in GCH (I forget the name).

Also....Don't forget if you are D23 you get 10% discounts at various places in DTD as well.

And use you Disney Rewards to get 10% at World of Disney and the other shops in DL (emporium etc..)...

Thanks! I always show both out of habit, it's nice to know I can just pull out the DVC card.

I do think that the discounts are comparable to the AP discounts, in fact the AP discounts may be a little better for dining (I think the Premium AP discount is 15% on food, where DVC is 10% ~ although that's from memory. I'm not completely positive.)

The DVC member website lists all of the DVC discounts so I plan to print it off before we go. When we stayed on our points at DLH they weren't trained on the DVC stuff. I would, however, expect that they are at GCV!

Yes..there is a little perks book for DVC discounts..it is generally 10% everywhere..even at some DTD locations.. The DVC website has them listed. Also a few merchandise discounts. We used it everywhere...even the corn dog place in DCA gave me 10% off my corndog :) It helped alot at Ariels' Grotto character meal too..and RFC.

oops..oh yes..I don't think renters would get this unless showing a room key for a villa is enough...you should join Jack :)
