I am a new blue card member and I am planning a trip for August 2022. My parents will be staying with us in a 2bed villa and my brother and his family will be camping at the Fort. If we are dining as a large group of 11, how many people can we get covered on our DVC discount?

Typically, limited to the member and up to 3 guests all on the same check.

Since my husband and I are both members, could he have a check with himself and three others, and I have a check with myself and three others?

Probably. But I would make it as simple as possible on the server. Before you even order, identify the 3 groups that will be on separate checks--two groups of 4, each with one member, plus the separate group of 3.

When it comes time to pay, show your digital ID cards and make sure the member on the card is the one who pays. Then settle-up the finances among your group later.

Don't expect that you'll be able to mix and match after the fact, having the server try to sort out which people should be on which checks, where the discounts are coming from and who is paying. If you and husband are the members, you should each have 3 others on your check, be able to show ID cards and pay for that check.

Maybe you'll get lucky and the server will just apply discount to all 3 bills. But don't go in expecting that.

We have done parties of 8 on one DVC card, but my spouse and I were both present so I’m guessing the server simply made it easier by assuming we were both members.

I would even ask when you sit down as they may be willing to just do one check if you say each of you are DVC.

Does this 3 guest rule include immediate family members living in the same home? We have 5 kids and are travelling with another party. Granted, we won't be eating together often, but when we do, we'd like to use our discount.

Technically it’s per owner and kids count toward that. But I have gone with 8 and we got the discount.

We’ve never had trouble getting the discount. We’ve actually had reservations for over wo and let the server know when being seated that we were DVC and they gave the discount to everyone with us.

In our short experience not every server was fully aware of the discount, and I would be shocked if they knew of a person limit. But one thing to keep in mind too is to compare discounts if you have other options. When we ate at a couple places our Disney Visa discount was higher than DVC (which I think is dumb, but I don't make the rules). So it doesn't hurt to ask. Also DVC discount worked at almost no quick service locations, even at DVC resorts, which I also thought was a bit dumb. But discount still got us back about $200 on our trip between food and merchandise, just set your expectations appropriately that you may get told no discount a decent amount depending where you go.

Where did you find the Visa discount higher than DVC discount? I stopped carrying our Disney Visa because it has only covered a few places (& sometimes only at lunch), but would take it along if this is so.
