43 days, 10 hours and 7 mins...

thats how long before we can leave for the airport!

I decided to waitlist for AKV Savannah View - either Jambo or Kidani - for this trip. I dont see the waitlist on the membership website and wondered if it would be listed there with my other vacation details? If we dont get it, I will be just as happy since we are hoping to get our requested CP @ SSR.

Also...my DBF informed me we needed to talk about the trip this evening. This does not sound magical. :sad2:

I wrote down the cancellation date but cant find it, and again I dont see it on the website. Does anyone know how far in advance of the trip can we cancel and not lose our points? None of them were banked points and are all this years.

Praying he doesnt have bad news for me, but some pixie dust would sure be welcomed if you can spare it. :faint:

Waitlists do not show on the website at all. If it comes through, your information will change to the new resort on the website.

If you cancel more than 30 days out, your points will go back to the use year from where they came. Then you can either bank them if you are still in your banking window and don't plan to use them, or if your banking window is passed, they will have to be used before the end of your use year.

I'm certainly not an expert - but I don't think the waitlists get placed on the member's sight. The information will be there if the waitlist gets matched, but they do not show up on the site.

If you cancel a trip 31 days out or more, the points go back to their original place. Since yours are from this year, you could still bank them, provided you aren't past your banking deadline. If you cancel 30 days out or fewer, the points will go into holding.

I'm hoping your friend merely wants to talk about and plan the trip, not cancel! :goodvibes

It's my understanding that if your waitlist comes thru it will show up on your vacation plans on DVCmember.com. Don't think they send an e-mail or anything else.
As far as cancelling, I think that you have 30 or 31 days before check-in to do that and have your points returned to their original UY. Unless you are past your banking deadline. :scared1: Since you are so close I would do it sooner rather than later. Don't wait too long, just in case. I'd certainly call MS and make sure.

Good luck!!!

To expand on what previous posters stated, you won't lose your points if you cancel more than 30 days from your check-in date. Since you indicate you didn't bank or borrow any points when you made the reservation, you'll be able to use them without restriction or bank them if you're still within your banking deadline. (Banking can be done during the first 8 months of a use year.)

If you had banked or borrowed when making the reservation, all points from the reservation would be returned to the use year in which the reservation fell. They won't be returned to their original use year. Points that have previously been banked or borrowed can't be banked, borrowed, or transferred. They need to be used before the end of the use year or they'll be lost.

If you cancel 30 days to 1 day before your check-in date, your points are placed in a holding account. They can't be banked, borrowed, or transferred; and there are restrictions on how they can be used.

If you cancel on your check-in date, or are a no-show without calling Member Services or the resort front desk, you'll forfeit all points associated with the reservation.

Please post later and let us know what happens! Sending pixie dust for no canceled trip!:tinker:

Thank you all for the clarification on the points and how it would work if we needed to cancel our trip.

We have received the dreaded "your AP's are going to expire on XXX date" postcard...and that date is only 2 days past our arrival date for this next trip. :sad1:

I had somehow thought we had until the end of the month, so now its a discussion of whether or not we can afford to re-up them when we go, and if not, do we think we will be satisfied not being able to go into the parks while we are there. My whole proposal on this was to squeeze another trip in before they expire. :guilty:

So friends, its not looking too great right now - but Im not giving up. :cheer2:

Thank you for the pixie dust, its very much appreciated.

Can you bring the trip forward a few days?

Have you done Universal Studios or Sea World recently? Several days in Disney until your pass expires, followed by a few days in Universal or Sea World, would be cheaper than renewing the Disney pass. (A Universal 3-park unlimited ticket is $177. That's 14 days at Universal, Islands of Adventure, and Wet & Wild. They also have cheaper tickets for shorter periods. Check out undercovertourist.com)

Not counting the exact days on a calendar, but it looks like you may be there during the not-so-scarry halloween party. That's another way to get into Magic Kingdom without having to buy a MYW ticket.

Pool hopping is another great way to spend a few non-park days. We did all the monorail resort pools while staying at BLT last year.

I hope it works out for you especially since it looks like your countdown banner mentions a birthday celebration. How many days is the trip? Perhaps you could do commando for the two days and then do some resort days. Maybe get some tickets to Cirque du Soleil, do a spa day, do a round of miniature golf (or the real thing), rent some water craft. Or do some of the non Disney parks, if you can handle the dark side.

:surfweb:...."Cancellation Guidelines:

Disney Vacation Club Member Vacation Point Reservations at a Disney Vacation Club Resort

31+ days before Check-In Date All Vacation Points used to make the reservation, including borrowed Vacation Points, will be returned to your account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls.
30 days – 1 day before Check-In Date All Vacation Points used to make the reservation will be placed in the Holding Account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls.
On the Check-In Date All of the Vacation Points used to make the reservation will be forfeited ...."

Hope this helps

Have fun!!

FYI Yes you can have a fun no parks trip. If needed just go comando until the APs expire then relax and enjoy the wonderful resort. FYI I do believe AP are still good on the expiration date. So depending on when you arrive you might get 3 park days in.

Can you move your trip back a few days to get more use from your
APs? If not, just make the most of the days you have in the parks and enjoy the rest of your trip. You can hang out at the resort, resort-hop to check out other resorts, play mini-golf, go to Fort Wilderness, spend a day at Downtown Disney shopping and eating or (gasp) spend a day at Universal.

I hope everything works out for you. Have a wonderful trip!
