DVC cash discount ?

Ok I am sure I know the answer but it doesn't hurt to ask right?

We are going down to Orlando in Dec with another family. We had actually talked about it before we bought into DVC but nothing was set in stone. Now we are all definatly going. Because of our UY and time we can vacation its totally stupid for us to not use our points and stay at AKL if we don't then they will expire before we get down there again. We don't have enough points to book 2 rooms for the entire week. Even so they don't want us using our points to get them a room anyway and I won't charge them for them. So my question is can I book them a room at POR with DVC discount, if available of course, even if I am not staying in it? They want to stay off property and if I can give them an on site option they feel comfortable with I would like to. There is 5 of them so POR is actually the cheapest of the options.

We plan on having a few diners at the WDW resorts and I figure it would be so much easier for everyone if we are atleast all on property.

I believe the DVC discount is for DVC rooms only on cash.

DVC members can (subject to DVC availability) sometimes book DVC resort stays for 25% off rack rate. The DVC Member must be occupying the room.

You are correct. DVC discounts are only on DVC villas and they are not always available. Plus, the member is supposed to stay in that villa reserved on a cash discount.

If you have an AP, you might be able to get an AP rate for your friends.

I figured that was the answer but like I said it didn't hurt to ask. No AP but I can keep my eye out for a code for them.
