anyone use alamo yet?

I just priced alamo and dollar for May for (9 days)

ALAMO compact/ no code wky $106.01 plus 3 extra-days at ($38.94 a day=$116.82) OUCH! Cost more for 3 days extra therefore we get no rental.
Wouldn't it be in their favor to give renters a reasonable daily price for extra days since you already have the car a week?

DOLLAR compact/with code $119.99 plus 3 extra days at($24.99 a day= $74.97) ANOTHER OUCH! and another no rental.

Anybody find a real deal with these car rental places when you have extra days vacation ( over 7 days but not more than 11 days)

The cost above don't include taxes, etc

booked at National;

With Disney Club Coupon, got a mini-van for 12 Days, $369.92, with all the taxes the total came to $461.62.

For one week, the base rate would be $229.00 without taxes., each additional day is $35.23 without taxes.

just show Disney club card when picking up car

hope this helps

Sent you a PM in regards to a discount code for Alamo. BTW, we used Alamo last year when we went to HHI (with very good results) and are using Alamo again this year (saved about $50 for a 5 day stay as compared to National, using the discount code) when we fly to PBI to go to Vero. Good Luck!

From what I understand, you can now book Alamo through MS. They are supposed to have great discounts. Haven't tried that way yet. Just returned from OKW from a shorty and used Alamo and really didn't like the service compared to using National. Can't understand the difference since they are owned by the same parent. Service just was much better at National.

My daughter also rented a car from Alamo for the same time frame and she also didn't have a good experience. Charged her for too much gas and she prepaid.

We go back in April during Easter Week and found that National using the DC discount code was cheaper than Alamo using their DC code also.

Just my thoughts. I price out all alternates before selecting.

I did a lot of looking for a rental for the end of this month. I found somewhere on "mousesavers.com" a list of ways to get discounts. The one that worked the best for us was using my Sams Club card fotr a discount. When I called ALAMO, I asked for that discount and it is saving me a bunch. It is a better discount than the DVC could get.

We booked a mini-van for 6 days in June for $149.00. No bull.
It's from L&M which is IN THE AIRPORT PARKING GARAGE!. I have not used them before, but for that price, and that class of vehicle from inside the airport, I am wimming to try it!!!!!!
Go to Orbitz, select all cars, select all companies and see what you get. You might be surprised.

Check with some of the off-site local companies as well. We found one on our last trip called American Rental. We reserved a compact for 7 days for $89. When we got to the location they were out of compacts and upgraded us to a Chevy Malibu at no additional charge.

I have had good luck finding the off-site companies by using travelocity.com.

Have a great trip!
