If you could pick to stay at Grand Floridian over the Christmas season, or at Copper Creek-- which would you pick, and why??

Thanks. Could you expand please? I don’t know enough about differences between BRV and CC at the holidays.
Well, firstly I own at BRV, so I'm biased...LOL. Second, BRV does have its own lobby that is beautifully decorated with its own tree and garlands and is extra cozy and intimate with the fireplaces and little nooks and sitting areas. With BRV, you get the main lodge decorations AND the BRV lobby decorations.

Copper Creek… but I am not a fan of the Grand Floridian. Much prefer the cozy, woodsy atmosphere, especially with a Christmas tree.

I own VGF and VWL/BRV - while VGF is beautifully decorated during Christmas- the lobby is LOUD and crowded! The lobby at WL/CCV can also get very busy - it’s not quite as bad - but overall I prefer BRV - in fact - I bought it specifically so I could stay for a week each December. As DonMacGregor stated so wonderfully above - BRV is the perfect mix of intimate and cozy but with WL/CCV amenities steps away..

I’ve stayed at both during the holidays and you can’t go wrong with either. It mostly comes down to personal preference.

But besides the different vibes/theme, GF is busier. There are a lot more visitors coming through to see the tree and gingerbread house. But there’s also a lot more going on—more places to eat, stores, music, etc. also easy access to the monorail to check out the holiday decorations at Poly and the Contemporary.

With CCV it is nice that you’re in the same building as the lobby and tree.

I have to agree with BRV, because the CCV lobby becomes Grand Central Station with all the people not staying there checking out the tree but for whatever reason none of them come by BRV and it is nice and peaceful.

The GF lobby is beautifully decorated at Christmastime, smells wonderfully of gingerbread, it's cheerful, bustling, and festive. It feels (to us) a bit like a December Saturday at an upscale shopping mall because of the crowds/noise/music, and the brightly lit, mostly white interior. :duck: Like many others, we're sometimes energized by that, so we do always enjoy a visit around the holidays but we wouldn't want to stay there during that time and pass through the lobby most evenings. The decor celebrates human creativity and workmanship but it doesn't seem to invite us to sit down, just to soak up the ambiance. Personal impression. Also, most rooms do not have access to the main building lobby without walking outside when it's rainy or unusually hot/humid.

The WL/CCV lobby is beautifully decorated at Christmastime, loaded with upscale, lodge/chalet charm, it's cheerful, bustling, festive, and feels welcoming (to us), inviting us to pull up a rocker or plush leather chair in front of a fireplace - there are 3 fireplaces, 2 of them tucked on a 4th/5th floor balcony overlooking the lobby. The decor boasts soothing, natural colors and textures, with lots of wood tones, greens, and hints of wildlife, while displaying gorgeous artworks and workmanship as well. If the noise still gets to be a bit much and we want a similar Christmas-y charm and ambiance, we can walk over the BRV for a smaller scale version of same, with more fireplaces. That walkway is covered so always protected from rain or direct sun. So BRV is actually our preference here :lovestruc especially around the holidays.

I've often said the GF lobby at Christmas reminds me of the old grand department stores on Fifth Ave. in New York. While we are So Cal natives, I had family that lived (well still do) in Manhattan, and I have fond memories of some of the old stores all decorated for the holidays. Lord & Taylor (my favorite), B. Altman, Gimbels & Macy's (not on Fifth, but still), Sak's., Bergdorf Goodman...

VGF gets my vote not only for how opulent the GF decorations are but also for other unrelated reasons--more shops and lots more restaurants, all of which are vastly better than WL's.

Besides, I love the GF beyond reason. I'm biased. I freely admit it.

Gotta admit, though, that BRV's tree was gorgeous the time we stayed there, even prettier than the big lobby one, I thought.
