I'm new to DVC and just booked our first stay at our home at the Polynesian for this upcoming October-Pre-Cruise vacation. When I booked through DVC they asked me if we had any celebrations during our stay and we do, my daughters Birthday. Should we be expecting something because we were planning on doing an in-room gift for her?

Maybe but don't count on it. They may flag her so other CM will know about her day. They used to have birthday buttons, sometimes they would give them out, other times not.

If they do anything it will not be as big as the in-room celebrations you can buy.

Also it is just to note it on file. All CMs that take reservations (DVC, regular, ADRs, special events) are suppose to ask if you are celebrating anything. I wouldn't expect anything from it being noted. Sometimes they'll have the buttons ready when you check in, some times Mickey will deliver a card, and sometimes absolutely nothing.

That's surprising to me. Every single time I have gone we usually list something (Anniversary, Birthday, whatever), they have always had buttons available. That's usually all we get, but we do get the buttons. They stopped doing Anniversary now and just do Happily Ever After, but they always noted it for us at check-in, congratulated or commented and gave buttons. The only time we didn't, they were out of the them, but they took generic ones and wrote on them.

Granted I may have just been very lucky on the dozen-something trips we've taken, but they never missed it.

Oh sorry they usually have the buttons if you ask. I meant sometimes when you mark it on file they have the buttons already pre-made but sometimes they don't. My friend noted his birthday and anniversary on our September trip and no buttons were made when they arrived but were available when they asked. So the buttons are always available you just might have to ask for them.

I got a card from Mickey for my birthday. I think it was in the room, but it may have been given to me at check in. I do not remember the details. My birthday was in January.

They ask and sometimes there's a button or a phone call from Mickey or Minnie but it doesn't happen all the time. I'd say maybe 30% of the time.
