We had been at the Merry Member Mixer 12/5 and saw a flyer which gave information about today's shopping event. It was open to DVC members and also it turns out AP holders. I didn't think we would be able to attend, but DH and I made a last minute trip to WDW this weekend. (I called 12/11 and found there was a studio available at SSR for 12/12/08-12/14/08 and we booked it using DP points! )

I figured since we were here, I should look and see what was there. :) I arrived at about 7:30am. The parking lot was filled with cars already! (The event had started at 6:30am.) The first 500 received special pins and the first 1,000 received an ornament. I did get a wrist band for a free ornament.

The World of Disney was packed. They did have lots of deals with items being brought out continually. There was 2008 merchandise (scrapbooking stuff) that was being sold at less than 50%. Christmas ornaments were 50% off. Plus, AP holders received another 10% off at check out. There were Christmas decorations (lawn type) that I would have liked, but I didn't figure I could check them in on the airplane. :)

I settled for a few small ornaments and took my place in line. This process took an hour! :scared1: I guess it was a combination of things: a lot of mis-rings with the prices not being updated in the machines and folks buying lots of stuff and lot and lot of folks!

Overall, I had a good time.

There's always 10% off for AP holders and Disney Visa card holders. And this time of year they always have the merchandise with the year on it on sale getting ready for the new year merchandise. I'm not sure what the deal was other than getting there so early to get something free?

Well, based on what I read and saw... there was more the usual. And generally when it gets to 50% off it's headed to the outlet where you do NOT get the 10%. I rarely see anything at DTD at 50%.

It turns out the resorts also have the same items on sale starting today, too. :lmao: The WOD had a lot more items on sale this morning (as one might expect with it being a larger store). But, it was a lot easier to shop at a leisurely pace at the resorts. ;)
The CM at SSR said they just found out this morning and she was putting up the displays to advertise the savings.

The Disney Stores in the malls are currently offering AP discounts of 10% and they do have some great sales right now too. Got Buzz Lightyear light up sneakers for $8...which is great considering my son won't fit into them 2 months from now anyway. Lots of their holiday stuff is 25-50% off right now too...worth a look since they are offering the AP discount, I believe through the end of the month??

I missed the event this morning. At 6:10am, I realized I would already be too late for the pin (I live about 35min away) and that was really all I wanted. Does anyone know what the pins and ornaments looked like??

I didn't get to see the pin, but the ornament was the mickey ears made with wire and a bell inside in either red and silver (and they have glitter on the metal).

No, it's not worth a look:lmao: I am sorry but if you aren't a child or an adult who wants to dress like a teen is there ANYTHING in those stores that ANYONE would want?

I agree, I walked in the one just north of columbus, looked around, and chalked it up to a wasted trip and time I'd never get back from my life.

yup, there is :)
really nice plaid flannel pj bottoms at 50% off, less than $10 (grumpy, dopey:love: , jack skellington, mickey)
ladies 2-pc jammies (tink, NBC, mickey) ~ 50% off (about $15)

sweet light pink tink sweats (pants, zipped hoody, thermal shirt) ~ at 50% off. not overly "cute" (small graphics), nice for everyday wear.

lots of T's & sweatshirts, but i'm not a fan of large graphics, so most of my $'s went to the above (& a ton of ornaments, a few wreaths & tree topper).

so, yes, there are adults who like a little fun in their clothing (fyi, i enjoy tiffany, coach, LV, etc....but i hope never to take myself seriously enough to preclude a little ºoº in the mix :cool2: ).

I used to buy clothes there... but the last few years, I just save my clothing money for Disney. Better selection, better quality etc....

There were no flyers at the DVC event on 12/12 so we did not find out until too late about the sale and it was our last morning....but the sales at the resorts were good!!

We did get dd8 hsm t-shirt at 40% off and a t-shirt for me that I have wanted each time we have gone in the last year but haven't bought because it was normally $28. AP discount on top of sale at World of Disney was good but the store was insane!

I suppose that would be anyone with a child ...I happen to be one of those people.
Oh, and anyone who likes Disney ornaments, stockings, tree toppers or tree skirts might consider it worth a look.:confused3
