Hi! I promise I did look at other boards to see if I could figure this out and I don’t see it addressed yet. Our next big family trip is Thanksgiving, 2025.

We are direct DVC owners, usually get 🧙 AP and never bought Genie+/ILL but did use (successfully) VQs for Tron/GG/RoTR.

We only travel peak weeks now due to kids’ school schedules. Last trip was week of July 4th, 2023 (never again.). So everything is changing — again — for trip planning.

November, 2025 we will have Incredipass AP since 🦃 is blocked out and can’t use 🧙for most of that week.

1) We still have to make AP reservations for half the group going (other half will be day tickets.). Yes/no?

2) Assuming VQs are still a thing, we can make those for everyone the morning of at 7 a.m.? Yes/no?

3) We HAVE to buy their version of Genie+ in order to make advanced FastPass reservations? Yes/no?
3a) We can make those advanced G+FPs 60+trip length out? 30+trip length out? Window, please?
3b) If we don’t buy new G+ we have to do standby or hope to buy day of and scrounge for whatever they drop in the app for availability? Yes/no?

4) I resent like hell paying any up-charge for 95% of the rides, but will everything be gobbled up such a busy week if I just try standby?

I also don’t like to plan our days that way and feel forced to do more of a park death march if I feel like we’re “wasting money/time” and we skip a day we prepaid/preplanned, but that’s why we love DVC, NOT being park warriors at rope drop. 🥵

Anything else I am missing/need to know?

It looks like you have a lot of questions on the Lightning Lane Multi pass and lightning lane single pass (new names for genie).

There are lots of ongoing discussions on the theme park board regarding this topic.

Here is a link to one of them:

Dave006 posted a link to this you tube on the link above. (It is long, but thorough).

This new procedure was just implemented. Disney may tweak it a little bit before your trip next year depending on how the new procedure works out.

I agree with the two posts above - the links bring you to the best information available at this time.

We have a trip booked for January 2025, so I’m monitoring the Theme Parks board as people report their experiences with the new LLMP system. And there will eventually be a sticky thread at the top of the TPAS board with specific instructions for booking, which will be kept up to date as things change. I’m looking forward to reading that thread too!

I have used the new pass and will be again in a few weeks. You do need to make reservations for all AP holders and day ticket holders won’t need them…assuming nothing is different by then.

If you do want to do any advance planning…which is why we will be doing it in a few weeks…it was very easy to do. Once you grab some for the park…do grab three…you can then modify the times if you don’t want to have early days.

The other piece we are doing is using it with our park hopping to maximize our purchase is book one park in the morning and use up the three, and then book the other ones for later that night. This way, we don’t need to buy daily if we don’t want to.

The time you are going, booking day of may not have a lot of options for thr more popular rides, but should still allow you to cut some waiting down. And, the new system does allow for clustering which is nice so you don’t have “gaps” beteeen them…Ie:we had Spaceship earth 10:30 and Soarin at 11:00…with the hour window it worked very well.
