I got the F&W festival book today, listing all the events that are scheduled and when they are. But then I realised-planning for specific F&W events is really only practical for locals, not DVCers. For example, I saw an event I'd love to attend on October 21. But what do you think my chances are of getting a studio 2 months out? Slim and none. Maybe I could rent a hotel room-Maybe. The CP in December probably is the same way-you really can't wait until the narrators are announced before you reserve. I suppose that's just one of the rare down-sides of DVC. For these events, you make your reservations and hope for the best. I'm just feeling Grumpy for the moment because it seems like every other weekend this year would have been better, in terms of the offerings. Oh, well-soon I'll be back to my Happy self.

When we attend the F&W we go ahead and book our room at 7 months out and then just go for whatever events are happening during our stay. You are correct though about the locals. There have been many times that I have read about events that I would love to attend but they are not during our stay. One more reason to move to Orlando!

We have booked in August for an October trip a few years ago. This year, we weren't so lucky, so we're staying @ the Swan.

But in either case - I wouldn't let the special events dictate whether I was going to F&W or not - we go just because we like the booths. If something is announced that seems to our liking, and if we can get a reservation for it, that's just gravy.

We are doing the 3D Dessert Party on our trip this year.

(PS - I was a local for 2 years and didn't go to Food & Wine either year - just too busy to spend the time in the fall!)
