DVC and Divorce

So, my divorce is finally finalized. I have my papers to send to DVC to get ex-hubby's name off (and change my last name), but I need to have a deed drawn and filed in Orange County. The company DVC recommended to me will charge about 500$ for the process.

Has anyone else drawn up a deed on their own? Do you have any advice for the whole process itself? I'd rather not shill out 500$ if I don't have to - that is more than the divorce itself cost!

Also, do you know if I have to actually be in OC to file? Or is that something I can mail?

Thanks in advance!

My ex DH is still on the deed because I didn't want to pay that fee either.

If the info Dean provided in Kathy's post doesn't work out, call The Timeshare Store and ask for the contact info for Magic Vacation Title. That's the title company they use -- super professional, and may be less expensive than whoever DVC referred you to.

I wouldn't draw up a real estate deed on my own. Definitely work with a RE attorney so nothing comes back to bite you.
