DVC 2007 Member Cruise - Preferred booking to first time cruisers

A little off topic but not really, just showing the fact that it's no longer "family" since Jim Lewis is now signing off as James Lewis, which I find rather too formal!

It just struck me as odd...............

He got a promotion, he's now the president of DVC so I guess he nolonger needs to make us think that he's part of our family but now part of Disney corporate big shots.

Why are these member cruises so popular? Is it just because you like being around other DVC members? Does it cost less points than booking a cruise at another time? Just curious.

Actually, it usually costs more than a regular 4-day at that time of year.

For me, it's the special programming they bring with them, guest speakers including Art Linkletter and Roy Disney, guest singers including Jodi Benson(voice of Ariel) and Susan Egan(Belle on broadway), and special programming tracks including a tour of the ship with one of the imagineers directly responsible for her construction. Events you won't even find on a standard 7-day cruise.

And yes, being with other DVC members and especially DIS members does take it that much further too
