we are Canadian and flying out of Detroit. We will be crossing over at Windsor so we will be able to get dutyfree there before we go over. I am assuming because our flight is a domestic flight we will not be allowed dutyfree at the airport?(I have never flown domestic before so not totally sure on this)

so any booze(looking forward to my Bailey's :) ) we buy will have to go into our checked luggage?? or can we carry it on the flight? Delta says Dutyfree can be carried on free. Hubby and I are hoping for 1 checked bag--so would have to allow for that when we pack if it has to go into the checked bag.

Thank you if you can clear this up for us

Pick up your Bailey's at duty free when you drive across the border entering the U.S. It has to go in your checked baggage since you can't take that much liquid through security. Only items purchased through duty free and delivered directly to the gate (such as we do in Canada when traveling to the U.S.) are allowed as carry-on....so this won't apply flying between U.S. States. Keep in mind that airlines have different rules for carrying liquids in your luggage. Best advice...buy a plastic bottle when possible and/or pack the bottle in a seal-able plastic bag if it leaks. Lots of padding makes sense! We haven't had any problems with Southwest, AirTran or JetBlue in the past.
