Dumb question...

When you take antibiotics and it says " take one 3 times a day"
Do you take it every 8 hours ( thus waking up and taking it during the night)

OR

Do you take it 3 times DURING the day ( ie breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

I've always taken it morning, afternoon and night.

I know it sounds like a pain, but it should be every 8 hours. It is important to do it that way so that you have the right amount of medicine in your body doing what it needs to do at all times.

You should do the every 8 hours bit, but I usually just take one when I get up, take one in the middle of the day, and take one before I go to bed.

At the hospital where I work, if something is ordered three times per day, we give it at 6AM, 2PM, and 10 PM.
