Are the point values on the charts per person or per room type.

for AKLV for JAN 1 it says sun - thu 8 points. so if I stay mon, tues, wed with 4 people would it be ? :

3 days at a studio @ 8 pts = 24 pts for trip or

3 days at a studio @ 8 pts X 4 people = 96 pts

also the Grand villa @ 519 pt per week
is that 519pt whether it's 4 people or 12 people.

Part II
also if I buy into a June year; am I guaranteed to get the type of room I desire whether it's a studio or two bedroom at my home resort.
what's harder to get a 1 or 2 bedroom and do you have to call one second after midnite to beat getting locked out.

I'm looking at a resell from BC or BW for June which I'm figuring to be a tougher time to book.

Thanks

That is per room not per person. Keep in mind the point change for 2010 and it is 9 pts for a STUDIO, per night, Sun thru thursday. Studios sleep upto 4 people. It was 8 pts a night for 2008.
Hope this helps

no you are not guaranteed anything. June UY is just when you get your allocation of points each year. That will effect banking points, etc.

You don't have a stay in June with that UY, you stay whenever you book to stay.

There is some good info floating around here, possibly in the stickies at the top of the forum, about which use year to pick based on when you travel. I believe picking a UY that starts shortly before you wish to travel is best so you have time to bank your points if you end up not traveling during that timeframe.
(I'm sure someone will correct this if I have it backwards)

There's no calling anytime around midnight. Member Services is you you would call for ressies, and they are only open during the day from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm ET. There are times when you will have a long wait and other times that you can get right through to speak with someone - but that's really more based on what is going on 11 months from when you are trying to call (i.e. calling for ressies for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's etc, etc).

Points are per night not per person.

Number of points to purchase should be based upon size villa you'll need based on # of people you will most likely regularly be travelling with, times of year you'd like to travel and resort(s) you'd most prefer to stay at.

You do not get the amount of points reduced if you book a Grand Villa for 4 people even though it can accommodate up to 12; all villas whether studio, 1 br, 2 br, Grand Villa or Treehouse or cottage at Vero Beach are whatever the number of points per night listed on the charts & accommodate up to the # of people indicated.

If you're thinking about purchasing a DVC contract check this link which lists the new point charts beginning in 2010 because there will be changes compared to 2009 charts ( in 2010 less points will be needed on Friday & Saturday nights, more points will be needed for Sun - Thurs nights )

Use Year has nothing to do with WHEN you may book : you can always call to book your reservation at your Home Resort (this is the DVC your points are "attached" to) as early as 11 months before the check-in date you would want ( ie for a reservation beginning on Feb 20 2010 you would call MS on March 20 2009 & could book up to 7 consecutive nights at your Home Resort based upon availability (then call on March 21 2009 to book an 8th night, etc) - there are no guarantees whatsoever that the dates or size villa you need will be available although most members often get what they want when calling with their 11 month Home Resort priority booking window first thing that morning ).

June Use Year is not a good choice if you plan to travel during February, March, April or May - - 'rule of thumb' is to NOT pick a Use Year month where you will travel during the last 8 months of that Use Year since you may only bank points during the first 8 months of a Use Year; June is perfect if you think you'll most likely travel during Jun,Jul,Aug,Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec,Jan (ie June Use Year dates for 2009 will cover travel 6/1/2009-5/31/2010 but if you had to cancel close to your trip booked during those first 8 months & made that cancellation at least 31 days before your check-in then you would still be able to bank those points into your June 2010 Use Year (you'd need to bank by Jan 31 2010 latest) and then those 2009 UY points from that cancelled ressie would be available for use between 6/1/2010-5/31/2011 ~OR~ if you cancelled less than 31 days up to 1 day before check-in you would at least have until May 31 2010 to use the points for another reservation. Also, note that January, May, July or November are not Use Years.

Hope this helps some :goodvibes

Since DVC is a points based system, what you are guaranteed is the opportunity to use your points at your home resort and other DVC resorts each year. But which resort, what type of room, and dates that will be available is all based on how far in advance of your trip you try to book.

As a member, you get an advantage to book rooms at your home resort over other DVC members who do not own there. If you can book your trips 8 - 11 months in advance, you will only be competing with other home resort owners. However, once you reach 7 months before your travel dates, all DVC owners can book rooms at your home resort so availability starts to become limited.

Booking rooms in advance is the key to ensuring you get the room, resort and dates you want. While getting rooms 4 months before your trip is possible, you may find that you can only get a room at SSR or OKW.

For travel in the month of June, you would want a contract with a June UY. This means you get your new points every year on June 1st. You will also have until January 31st of the following year to bank your points if you are not going to use them.
