Dumb magic band question?

We bought the memory maker and I'm not sure how it works. Do we have the photographers scan our magic bands before we take the photos? What about ride photos?

The photographers will scan your bands, usually after they take pictures, on the rides it is done by some crazy Disney big brother magic band magic, where it reads your band on the ride or something like that. I didn't have memory maker, but I was intrigued by how the people who did have it were just hopping off the ride and going on their merry way, so I asked. No one seemed to understand how it worked, but apparently it does, at least most of the time.

Each Magicband is equipped with a unique RF chip and id. Disney used this technology to track you movement throughout the park, yes! it is big brother watching. They us the same set up to know which attraction you are on and if the attraction has a photo or video set up it will link it to your magicband automatically. Last week, they just launched video on Tower of Terror and it is included in the photo package.

It is pretty cool, and pretty scary all at the same time. The tracking, not tower of terror.
