Duffy the Disney Bear 9/19

I will be heading out to the see the presentaion at 2pm on Sunday. My mom is excited and is hoping to perhaps buy something.

Well I just came back from DCA and checking out the Duffy The Disney Bear presentation. The bear is really cute and very soft and fluffy. It was pretty cool as Duffy has some "Hidden Mickeys" on his body and face. They had a assortment of Duffy products on display that will be releasing soon. They will be releasing different uniforms depending on holidays or special occasions.

The bear officially goes for sale on October 14th, however those that attended the presentation were able to purchase the lovely bear.

Price for the 17" Duffy is $25 and for the uniform it is $15. The sailor uniform were the only one available for sale today though. They will be releasing a 24" or 27" version of Duffy as well I just cant remember exactly the size they said.

There was no photography allowed during the presentation except for the products there were on display. So I took some pictures of that instead and I would like to share them.

I admit, when I first saw Duffy, my initial reaction was, "Why?" But, when I read the little story behind it when I clicked on the first poster's link, I realized I must have this bear. I hope it's available before we go on our DCL cruise in March...it would be the "perfect" gift to give to my daughter when we got on the ship...

He looks like the Disney Bears that they use to have a few years back. I'm glad to see them returning as I need to replace DDs due to our puppy chewing him to pieces.

i was looking at the pictures and it looks like you have to buy a whole new seperate bear if you want the christmas and halloween outfits this makes me sad cuz i really want those!

The bear is super popular at TDLR. I'm glad he's coming here because I must have one. Hoping they have him by October. I want the girl bear too, did they happen to have any of those or say if she will be available also?

It looks like the 12" bears come dressed (not sure if the clothes come off or not) but you have to buy clothes for the 17" bears.

From the scale, they can probably fit into Build a Bear clothes, which are for the most part cheaper than the price tags on those Disney clothes. (That said, the pirate outfit for the 17" Duffy certainly caught my eye! )

hopefully they market these the right way, if they do it is sure to be a success which i hope it is cuz i would love seeing everyone (including me) carrying their duffy bears around the park like they do in tokyo

Yes there is a meet and greet spot, they mention it will be near Paradise Pier. They will have all the merchandise located in the store that is next to Ariels Grotto, I forgot the name of the place.

Also they will have through out the park different backgrounds so you can take your Duffy and take pictures to add to Duffy's adventures.

His merchandise go on sale to the public at DCA on October 14th

Also you dont have to buy the bear everytime you want a different uniform, you just simply buy the uniform. Again uniforms are sold separately.

As for the 12' version of Duffy there was no info given out about that only the 17" version.

I have several Duffy Bears from Tokyo and after the AP event yesterday I am so happy to see the bears are of the same quality. Very very soft and cuddly. The Disney Bears in the past at the US parks, haven't been as nice as the ones in Tokyo. I do hope the quality of the costumes are as good as Tokyo. From what I saw yesterday, Im not sure they are. Tokyo Costumes have so much detail and multiple items with each costumes and they cost around 35000 yen, which is the dollar is good is about $35.00. I think it maybe to pricy for the state park guest so Disney may keep the costume on the cheaper side and I understand that. No need to make it if guest wont buy it. It would be nice if they offered two levels of costumes, a cheaper line and a more pricier line. Giving guest the choice.

I do hope Duffy takes off in the States, he is very cute and can add a nice story line to Mickey.

I did see the gazebo that I think they will have the meet and greet with Duffy in. They had Mickey there yesterday at 10:00am when the park opened. If anyone remembers where the christmas tree was last year in PP then you have the location on the meet and greet spot. Its right outside the store where Duffy items will be sold. I think its a cute area. Its in a good location as a lot of guest will walk by.

As a side note, the sailor shirt that can be bought with Duffy, looks great with a pair of jeans from BUild a Bear(as I don't see Disney selling jeans at the moment, Im sure they will at some point)

I also hope that Disney does holiday release costumes for the 14" bear. Not just the little ones. Tokyo does and they do very well with it. I think if people have to buy a new bear all the time, it wont work well.

And yes I have seen and heard that in Tokyo the line for new Duffy Items are 8 hours long. He is that well loved and the costumes are amazing. The material they use is usually so soft and the detail is great for a little bear, sometimes the detail is better then what I can buy for myself. lol
