Hi everyone,
Never been to Downtown Disney before. Do you park far away in a large parking lot and then walk in and explore or what? Parking fees at all? Also, is it too huge to easily find Goofy's Candy Co. or is it managable to just go to DTD for about an hour to see what is about?
Thanks for your help. :cool1:

DTD is getting bigger and bigger every year! Parking is free and we usually park near the giant Disney Store (ye gods!!! I LOVE that store) and wander around. Ghardelli's is usually giving out a freebie taste of something it seems and it's a quick walk over the Goofy's Candy Store--always a big diet mistake for me--:goodvibes

There's several maps posted on site which are easy to read to get to where you want to be.

Have fun exploring....:hippie:

Goofy's Candy Co is located on the Marketplace side so you will want to park in that area. Since their parking lot ranges from the letters A-F you should have no trouble finding a place to park and if they are busy, just keep driving because you will eventually find a space.

I would try going during the day first. There is soooo... much to see and with all the lights and people at night it can be overwhelming. Parking is free, and some spots are close if you can find them open going during the day will help with this. Goofy's Candy Co is huge here and they have everything. There are some really good places to eat too, you should plan on spending some time there.

You want to make sure you park on the Marketplace side...

The whole area is broken into three sections.
1. The Westside - This has Disney Quest, The House of Blues, and Cirque and some shopping.

2. Pleasure Island - This where the clubs are and Raglan Road (Irish Pub restaurant).

3. Marketplace - This is where the Goofy Candy store is. It also has the Wide World of Disney store, and the Lego store and many more shops.

If you park on the Westside, it will be long walk to get the Goofy Candy Store. So you want to park on the Right side (That is if you are looking at the whole complex from the road, the Marketplace is on the Right hand side)... There are about 5 or 6 parking lot entrances along the road there.

Disney has numbered the parking lot entrances now. Its lot number 1.

Also Parking at Downtown Disney is free.

The Goofy Candy Store is over near large volcano (otherwise known as The Rainforest Cafe) so its not too hard to find. Its near the Once Upon a Toy store.

Have fun!!

Thanks guys. Especially the detailed parking instructions and where to find the candy store. Appreciate it very much.:goodvibes

Oh, would I also use DTD regular parking if I wanted to go to the Disney Richard Petty Race Track?

When you check into a WDW resort, you'll get a map of DTD. If not, you can find one online, or send for one. You can also find them other places anywhere that there are Disney maps - your car rental location, non-Disney resort lobby, etc. That will give you a pretty good sense of where you want to go.

The parkinglot at DTD does fill up, but you can usually find a spot. It might not be right where you want to be.

Yes, it is possible to get right to where you want to go in DTD, it is equally possible to get distracted into staying longer than one hour.

From all Disney resorts, you can take a bus there. It will either drop you off at the Marketplace end - or in the middle of DTD. Either way, the walk to GCS isn't bad (the MP drop off is rather closer though). At the other end of DTD, is the Candy Cauldron - also a cute candy place.

I've never done RP, but I do't think so...

Last year, we weer ona time schedule when we went to DTD, and we had a hard time sticking to it....
