If you were looking to eat dinner and then stroll around for an evening of entertainment (keeping in mind our idea of entertainment might be looking at ducks or fountains, we have a 5 year old and 2 year old, and our idea of evening is anything from 6 to 8 PM) would you chose DTD or the Boardwalk area and where would you eat? Much thanks, and sorry for the world's longest sentence!!!

probably DTD for the children. you could grab something at either earl of sandwich or wolfgang puck express. sandwiches are large enough to share! then for entertainment, there is the lego area, a merry-go-round(charge), or just watching the boats on the lake. :earboy2:

I think DTD would be a good choice. My kids love to play at the Lego store. There are legos to play with and a playhouse with a slide. If you are looking for a sit down dinner, our choice is always Portobello's.

Defintely DTD. I have a 9 yo DD and a 22 month old dd (Big age difference). The 9 yo can stay up, but with the 2 yo we have to be in the room no later than 8 maybe 8:15. (Hey, she's a great sleeper & we want to keep it that way-the older was never a good sleeper). Anyway..the Boardwalk doesn't really come alive until like 9pm and even then there's not much for that age group..well nothing at all really. DTD there's a carousel, a small train they can ride, the lego store, shopping at the toy store or World of Disney, the playground at Mickey D's, the shooting water fountains, etc. There's more eating options at DTD, too. There's many sit down places as well as Earl of Sandwich & McDonalds.

DTD does have some fun stuff for kids. I would suggest taking the boat in Epcot or walking over to Boardwalk area for an afternoon break. The times we went, there were things happening. General family type stuff, some games & music. It might be a relaxing break during the day.

At DTD, you can get pizza at Wolfgang Puck Express or Happy meals at McDonalds if your kids are picky eaters. There is also a ghiradelli ice cream shop, a wonderful toy store, and for DS3 the high point has always been the little train to ride. If you happen to be staying at POR or POFQ, you can take the boat to and from DTD, which is also a big hit with the preschool crowd.

Wow, I didn't know DTD has so much! I am guessing the train and carousel cost money. Anyone know how much? I am so excited for our first family trip to Disney!!! :cool1:

Thanks for all of the info!

The train and carousel were maybe $2 each. My kids like to go to DD on our first and last day....it is a great travel day spot. Our new fave place to eat is The Earl of Sandwich while the kids are still happy at Mc D's. We love to shop in all those great stores, they are an attraction themselves! Have fun!!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:
