DT After Park Closes

Hi there,

This has probably been answered somewhere on the DIS before but can someone please advise me how long the buses run from parks to resort after the park closes.

I have been told it's good to hang back after the fireworks and shows to save a mad rush for the buses.

I am staying at CBR.

This has probably been answered somewhere on the DIS before but can someone please advise me how long the buses run from parks to resort after the park closes.

The general answer has always been "as long as it takes to get all the guests back to where they need to go."

Keep in mind that the stores at the front of the park stay open for at least an hour after the official closing time, and sometimes longer. If there are people willing to spend cash, generally Disney doesn't want them to leave.

And as long as there are people streaming out of the park, the buses will run. If there are a handful of stragglers, they'll run at least enough bus service to get them to their resort even if they have to run a single bus around to several different parts of the park.

So unless you do some serious shilly-shallying, you'll be able to catch a bus. In the worst case, where you hide in a shrubbery until the transportation CMs think everyone is gone, you'll be able to call a cab, or ask a CM for help and they'll get you some help.

The general rule of thumb is that buses run for one hour after park closing. After that they may start to consolidate lines (e.g., lump resorts together). As the PP said, don't worry, they won't strand you at the park! (I like to shop after the park closes, so I've been at the buses an hour after the park closes and I've still gotten back to my resort. )

Absolute worst case scenario - you walk out to the bus stop and there are no buses or CMs anywhere to be seen (very unlikely). So you just keep walking & go over to the Contemporary and take a cab back to your resort.

The CR is about a 10 minute walk from MK turnstiles, even less from the bus stop area.

Absolutey wait for the park to clear before heading to the bus stops. It amazes me to watch the throngs heading to the exits right after a park closes. It has to be a madhouse with both buses and cars. Just take your time and sit or walk around or shop or do whatever. If you wait for at least 30 minutes you will be amazed how quiet it gets outside the main gates.
