DS's First trip to WDW and My First Trip Report** Days 3 & 4 and Pics Added **

Wednesday was our day at Animal Kingdom. I had only been to this park once before also, so I was excited to go back. We had breakfast reservations at Donald's Breakfastasaurus. Compared to Crystal Palace, I loved the atmosphere at Donald's better, but I liked the food (translated...NO fried french toast here :( ) at Crystal Palace better.

We ate our breakfast and then the plan was to beeline to Expedition Everest for fast passes. Craig had been telling me about this attraction and was SO excited to get on it. It wasn't officially open yet, but he'd read that it was in soft opening and hoped that we'd be able to get on. He came back and we had fun walking around and seeing the animals and then headed on the Safari. Domenic liked this, but it was hard to get him to see some of the Animals since by the time I'd point it out and he'd actually see it, we were past them. But he did well on it and liked the animals he did see.

We left this and headed to Everest since it was time for our fast passes. Tiff stayed behind with Domenic this time and Craig and I headed in. I had no idea what to expect, as I'd not read a think about it. I knew Craig had read up on it, but didn't know he knew some specifics of the ride  We get on in very little time and all I can say is the picture we bought after that ride says it all. OMG. That ride was fantastic!!! We had a blast! We headed back out to find Tiff and found she and Domenic enjoying a Mickey bar. Thankfully she'd taken off his white Mickey Mouse shirt first, lol, as he was covered in chocolate :) Cleaned him up and left him with Craig while Tiff and I headed on. I decided not to tell her what I'd just experienced and let her have the same first impression I'd had. She loved it! We got off and went to find Craig and Domenic walking around. Since we'd baby swapped and had caught on to how it worked, we had that 3rd fastpass and he went back on solo while Tiff and I headed to Dinoland to let Domenic play. He fell asleep on the way, though, so we found a nice shaded bench and hung out waiting for Craig.

He caught up with us after his second trip on Everest and we went to Dinosaur to get fastpasses for later. We walked around a bit and decided to go get some lunch. Domenic woke up (or we woke him, I don't really remember) and we ate and then headed back to The Boneyard so Domenic could play. He loved this playground as much as the Honey I Shrunk the Kids one, especially the water....again! He was SOAKED. He'd already changed once since he'd gotten soaked right after the safari at some water spot. This time he was drenched. But he was having so much fun :thumbsup2

We left there and headed to Dinosaur, where we took turns riding. When Tiff and Craig went on together this time, Domenic and I stayed in the shaded area and he colored with another little girl who was kind enough to share :)

Left there and headed to see It's Tough to be a Bug. He was very impatient in line, but happy once we got inside. He liked the special glasses again (and since we'd seen Mickey's Philharmagic at MK the day before, he was figuring out now how they worked) and liked the show, except for the part with Hopper. That part scared him a little. Overall, though, he enjoyed the show and the effects that went with it. Of course, he didn't want to give up the glasses afterwards and started to get crabby, but we offered him some popcorn and the promise of a parade and that did the trick. One thing we learned on this trip......when all else fails, offer popcorn. It worked (almost) every time popcorn:: :thumbsup2

We headed to find a spot for the parade and found an open one.....right in the sun. It was hot, but we didn't care. We had a great curbside seat. I had never seen the parade at AK and must say it was fantastic. We'd already seen Spectro, and will watch the parade at MK the next day, but AK was definitely my favorite.

After the parade we decided to head out. Our original plan had been to have dinner in Morocco at Epcot that night and then watch Illuminations again. But since we'd stayed at AK later than we really thought we would, and since making our dinner ressie meant pretty much going straight to Epcot from there, we decided to cancel and head back to OKW and then go to MK for Wishes again. We were very hot and thought a dip in the pool would do us good, not to mention Domenic had been 1/2 awake the night we got there and first saw Wishes, so since it was our last night there, we decided to go back there.

We swam at OKW and showered and headed over to MK. It was getting late and had been a long day. Auntie Tiff was leaving first thing in the morning, before Domenic even got up, to head back to CA (we had an evening flight and were planning to head to MK for the day) so she told Domenic that she'd buy him whatever he wanted when we walked into MK. No big deal. She looked over and saw the glow necklaces and figured since we were there mainly to see the fireworks, that would be a fun gift. She made the mistake of bringing Domenic with her to buy it :sad2: Never pair a doting aunt with dotee when she's off to buy said child a gift  I look up to see them walking towards us with this light-up, extending sword thing. She has a look of pure guilt and Domenic is all grins. I asked what happened to the necklace and she said Domenic saw that and wanted it instead. She said she told him "Your mommy is going to kill us," at which point he looked at the CM and said "Mommy's gonna kill us!" and had them :rotfl:

I don't care that he has it, but I know that we're in a crowded place and that he's tired and not prone to listening at this point. I tell him he can have it while he's in the stroller but he cannot extend it. Yeah. You know where this is going. Extended it goes, as he swings it from side to side. I take it, push it back down to its smallest length and tell him he can't do it. Out it goes again. Again I take it back and tell him to stop. We do this another time and now I'm frustrated and getting very irritable. He's being a 3 year old and isn't understanding WHY he can't do this. Craig stops at a stand and asks for tape so we can keep it from extending while he's swinging it in the stroller. Got it :thumbsup2 Next up....meltdown. Domenic has a FIT because there is tape on his sword. By this time, I'm talking through clenched teeth, I'm sad that our last night is starting out like this, I feel bad for my sister, because I know she feels badly that she let him get this over the more practical present. She's feeling bad for him that he's getting in trouble over her gift. It's not a pretty sight.

It's getting late and we need to find some supper and find a spot for Wishes. We head over to fantasyland to get some pizza at Pinnochio's. Yep. You guessed it. There's Dumbo. "I wanna go on Dumbo!" we hear. The line is way too long and we know if we go on Dumbo we're not eating OR seeing Wishes. Somehow in the chaos, Tiff gets him to go on the Carousel and Craig and I go in to order supper. He comes in and has calmed down while he and Tiffy "chased" Dumbo on the horsies. Gotta love Aunts sometimes (except when they buy extending laser light swords in crowded parks ;) ) We have a quick supper and head off to see Wishes. Because it's so late we're not able to get to Main Street to watch again, but we grab a spot to the right of the Castle and sit down to watch from there. Domenic's excited to see Tink again and the night has been salvaged. It's a nice way to end what's been a great visit and vacation with my sister :cloud9:

:rotfl: I so should've been sleeping last night, but I wanted to get this finished before I left so I pushed to write it. I will attempt the last installment right now, since the car is packed, I'm ready, and we've still got an hour before we leave for the airport  DS is still sound asleep at the moment, though he doesn't know we're going, so good that we got everything into the car already ;)

Our last day dawned bright and early. Well, maybe not so much bright, but definitely early  Craig took my sister to the airport at about 5am since she had a 7:30 flight. By the time he got back I was showered and dressed and starting to pack up  Domenic was sound asleep. I felt bad that he missed Auntie Tiff leaving, but he was out for the count.

Once we got most of our things packed we started to wake Domenic, who protested, as he had done for the past 3 mornings, this early pull from his slumber. We're talking about a child who is normally up with the birds when we CAN sleep  But we get him up and promise today, TODAY is the day we'll ride Dumbo. It's our last day and both Craig and I have said, come Hell or high water, we WILL ride Dumbo today. I didn't care if I had to stand in that line for 3 hours (ok, well I DID....but I would've done it ;) ) So he's up and dressed and we're scanning our room for any leftover belongings (All the while cringing at all the uneaten and undrunk food and drink we're leaving for mouskeeping :sad2: We have everything, we're off!

We get to MK for extra magic hours that morning and head straight to Fantasyland. Dumbo is moving, that's a good sign :cool1: The line isn't terribly long, maybe 20 minutes, and we finally get to take Domenic on this ride which he wanted to be the FIRST ride he did at WDW. Sorry sweetie, next time Mommy won't encourage that kind of thought  Of course he wants to go again right after, but we're able to move him in the direction of other attractions he remembers from the other day (except Snow
White!)

We had no dining ressies for this day, as we were leaving the park right after the afternoon parade. We hadn't seen it on our first day there and figured that would be a nice ending to our trip. So we mosey around MK for the morning. We'd done fantasyland and I don't remember at what point, except that it was morning, so probably just after, he started to go into meltdown mode. Chalk it up to little sleep, heat, and being almost 3. Regardless, he was hollering. We had decided to head into Country Bear Jamboree to cool off and since we knew he'd like it. He's such an entertainer and loves to sing and dance, so we figured this was right up his alley. WRONG. (Well, I still think it is, but we didn't find out that trip  ) He put up such a stink outside in line. "I don't WANT to go see the SHOW. Nooooooo! I don't want toooooo!" Screaming. I shushed him and tried to soothe him in hopes that he'd calm down and enjoy it. Stayed in line, knowing the folks around me were probably thinking "Please, lady, just take the kid out of here!" We got into the attraction and he was still screaming, so I had already looked at Craig and asked if there was to get right out once inside. He said yes and we walked in and walked straight out, all the while with Domenic screaming and crying. I know many people who breathed a sigh of relief that morning ;)

So, we head to sit in some shade and try to restore order to my son. He calms down finally but is still crabby. We see Jessie and Woody and ask if he wants to take a picture. He begrudgingly says yes. So we're in line and a CM comes up and is trying to be all sweet and nice and ask if he likes Toy Story and he just turns his head. I apologize and say he's a little bit not happy. She asks what day of our trip it is, I say the last, and she knowingly smiles and says "Well, there you go ;) " Thank heavens for understanding people!

We visit Jessie and Woody and then Domenic starts to fade. He's sound asleep in the stroller, so we do some final shopping. We encountered a lost child during that time. Well, Craig did. I was in a gift shop buying ornaments and Craig was outside with Domenic, who was asleep in the stroller. I come out and there's a young boy, about 6, sitting on the wall with a couple. Craig tells me they have found this little boy outside the Haunted Mansion just crying away. They found someone who sent for security and were waiting there for them to come. This poor child, I believe from England, was just sniffling and clutching a sketch of Mickey Mouse which this couple had given him trying to calm him down. It was the saddest sight which brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't even imagine what that child's parents were going through right then, and I felt so deeply for this little boy who was so scared and alone. Security came and got him and I spent the better part of the next hour wondering what had happened and just looking at Domenic thankful that he was right there.

Domenic remained sleeping for awhile, so we headed to Tomorrowland for fastpasses to Buzz and to grab some lunch. We relaxed for a bit and then when Domenic woke up we went on Buzz (clearing the gift shop with nothing this time) and then headed over to find a spot for the parade. Craig headed to get us some ice cream while Domenic and I staked out our spot. The parade itself was good. My second favorite of the week. It was definitely the perfect way to end our week :goodvibes After that finished, we headed to DTD since we still had some time before we had to get to the airport. We shopped a little bit more and then headed to MCO for our trip home. It was so sad walking out of the MK knowing we weren't going back that night or the next day :(

Flight home was uneventful. Domenic slept the whole way, barely waking up when we switched from plane to car. It was back to reality the next day....here's the post-WDW look

16h001u.jpg

but we'd instilled that magic in him and I know we'll be back. Well, I had hoped then anyway....but since this is 3 months later, I can say now it's true. We're headed back......TODAY! :Pinkbounc

Tara, great trip report! Thank you sooo much for sharing!!

Have fun on your trip!! :cool1: :dance3:

What a delightful report! Your little boy is sooo cute (loved the pic of the three of you on the safari). Am so jealous knowing you are there again but happy for you (anxious to see how your son reacted since it was a surprise).

Will be looking forward to your next report (you have a great writing style - I lived vicariously thru your days - thank you!)

Great report... thank you so much for sharing.... Hope this one is even more fun... can't wait to read about it

Thanks for the great report. It helped alot since we are taking our little ones (DD4 & DS2)for their first visit this fall. My kids loved the pics of your son with Mike Wazowski! Very Cute!

I know you are in WDW right now, so you won't see this for awhile, but I loved your TR. You and Craig seem like a wonderful couple, and Domenic is adorable!

I had to laugh at your walking right through Coutnry Bears, as we did the exact same thing with my son at Muppet Vision a few years ago. :rotfl:

And, as I mentioned in another thread not too long ago, my dd and Domenic could give each other good company on the meltdowns...we experienced quite a few on our trip a few weeks ago. It's nice to read about other's experiences with a child (or children) the same age(s) as mine. I hope you write a TR for your current trip, as well! :teeth:

Just wanted to say thanks to those of you who read this (I know I get a bit wordy at times) and that we're having a GREAT time here right now and I'll be sure to share when we get home :goodvibes

Happy 4th of July from WDW!!!
