That tech didn't know what he is talking about.

hmm, got me...tech told me this when i told him i wondered if the is on my 28-135 was not working since there was no appreciable difference on the photos i took on tripod( think i used remote or timer can't remember now) with or with out IS.. he told me to test IS take photo in low light which i did and could see the difference so knew it was working...got it back today and they said the adjustment of the part was incorrect and the focus did not operate properly so electrical adjustments were carried out on the part...is seems lots sharper now but i havent' really checked it out yet due to stinkin snow.
