DSL customers - a question

My parents recently got DSL service. They live several hours away, so I haven't seen the setup in person. My Mom has a technical question. The cable/cord to the modem is too short for her tastes. She wants to route the wire up, over the door frame, back down the other side and behind the computer desk. Right now it runs across the floor, serving as a snare of sorts when the grandkids approach the computer.

I have a cable modem so I'm no help. From her description, the final wire sounds like a regular telephone/RJ11 plug. Can she simply add one of these and one of these to get more length?

So, what's that last wire like? Hanging from the wall jack is a splitter labeled phone and something else (internet/DSL, not sure). Both jacks appear the same.

Thanks for any insight,
Ronda

I'm going to be of no real help here but the DSL company (verizon) gave me several cords with the kit. They did state that if any of them weren't long enough, I could ask for other cords to be sent. I'm sure that your mom could give the customer service line a call and just ask the question. They have always been pretty helpful with me.

yes it is regular phone wire/RJ11

yes the splitter is one side phone one side DSL

Yes I have a connecter on mine to make the cord longer. It has been working fine for a couple of years. You can also get a 100ft phone cord line.

Thanks everyone! I can be a hero at Christmas! Now, to get her off of Windows ME ; )
