DS8 came home from school Monday with nausea. He seemed fine by lunchtime, even at some french fries I made. By evening, he has a fever kick in....101. Same thing the next AM. With some tylenol and motrin, he was playful when the fever was under control. Wednesday, he started coughing just a bit -- nothing horrible. Thursday, the coughing picked up a lot but it wasn't alarming to me. Thursday late afternoon he was running 103.7 fever. I called the pediatrician and they said the fever was probably spiking because he was at the end of the virus. If not better by Saturday, bring him in to see the pediatrician. Yesterday, no fever. I'm thinking we're on the road to recovery yet he didn't eat anything all day. We even tempted him last night with McDonald's burger, fries and milk shake. Nothing. Today, I look at him, still no fever but he's very, very pale. Take him into the peditrician and it's walking pheumonia.

Why is it that when I don't run to the doctor, my kids are usually the sickest? I feel really terrible that I didn't take him in earlier than today, but I thought it was just that virus thing going around that so many kids have. I know he'll rebound and I'm glad we finally went in. But it's the hind sight that's killing me right now.

You were in touch with the doctor - it's not your fault! And believe me, I have done the same thing - I usually run my two (who are teens) to the doctor's at the first sniffle and it's usually nothing, but when I don't take them right off the bat, I end up finding it's strep or something else.

Walking pneumonia is hard to diagnose.

Hope all of you feel better soon!

Poor little guy...hope he feels better soon. Don't beat yourself up...we have all done the same thing. {{HUGS}} to you both and I am sure he will be fine!:)

Poor little guy. That will really knock you out. I had it a few years ago and it took 3 trips to the doc and about 2 weeks to diagnose. I hope he feels better real soon.

Awww, poor little guy. He's on the road to recovery now and will be his ol' self real soon.. Don't beat yourself up over this. :( He's going to be fine. :)
