DS hinges

We now have 2 of our Nintendo DSs with broken hinges. My kids aren't even very hard on them, they just seem to not be that sturdy.

Any suggestions to fix them?

One is in a Nerf case but that doesn't seem to hinge well either, it just protects it.

Thanks,

Dawn

I would contact Nintendo for help. It does depend on how long you have had them but they had offered to fix my friend's son's DS but she just went out and bought him another new one.

They did?

Ok, I will try to call on Tuesday.

I really don't want to buy a new one, or two, or three if I don't have to. If I get a new one it would be the newer DSi or XL and then they all 3 would want one.

UGH!,

You can get a kit on ebay to fix it. It's kind of hard to do but not impossible:)

My DD's did the same thing! I didn't think you could do anything for it. I will have to call too.

I found a local cell phone repair shop that also repairs ds's. Our hinges broke & the wires connecting the screens were visible and the upper screen display was all jumbled with black bars across it. It cost about $60 for me to get it repaired as we needed a new screen and outer case/housing. Still cheaper than a new ds.

wow, i'm glad i'm not the only one with this prob.. ds broke the hinges on his a while ago and has just started complaining that it's broke and he needs a new one...

My son broke the hinges on his new DS a couple of years ago. I talked with Nintendo about it, as it was only 3 months old. They told me then that hinges were not covered in their warranty. Nintendo said that if the hinges were broken, the user had misused their product. We could pay them to fix it, but we opted to just buy another one.

DD's hinge broke, so I bought new nerf armor, and the armor's hinge is keeping it working fine. She can't adjust the angle of the screen, though. It's either open or closed.

Nintendo wanted $75 to fix the DS, or $85 to buy a re-conditioned one with a one-year warranty.

My 11 yo'son's broke right after he got it. My mom bought as a b'day gift late Oct. '09.
He just went to TRU last week to claim the warranty.
Gift Card for $116 came in mail Sat.
Mom had purchased their Buyer Protection Plan & actually still had the paperwork!
