DS (6) had a birthday bash tonight with several friends. He got many nice gifts. His two friends cornered him and were asking "who's gift do you like better?" I was thinking, "uh oh." DS thought for a moment and then said "I like them both the same." Phew.....
DS has been a real handful lately and we've had lots of talks about respect and consideration of others. Usually it all goes out the window in the heat of the moment, but clearly he took the time tonight to consider how his words could have hurt his friends.
We talked about it after they left and DS said "I didn't want to make either one feel bad by choosing one over the other."
Thank you, God. He must be hearing at least some of what I've been saying...
