Can anyone give me some special ideas on how to celebrate my DS's 5th birthday in the World this year? I know we can order cakes, but wanted to know if anyone has experienced anything really Magical.....???:wizard:

First of all let them know at the resort that you are celebrating his b-day...we did this is November for 2 of my DD's and they gave them pesonalized b-day buttons and had cards (asked who their fav characters were) and balloons sent to the room..my 4 yo said that was ''really cool''..lol
Does he have any favorite characters that you could have a character meal with...Chef Mickey's, Donalds Breakfastosaurus, Liberty tree tavern, Garden grill...
You could also make him a personalized "Today is my 5th Birthday" t-shirt to wear the day of his b-day.

Im sure i'll think of more, hope i was of some help....

We celebrated the twins 3rd snd 4th birthdays at the world - the 2rd we were at MK and the 4th was spent at MGM. We stay offsite so I can't comment on what the resorts will do, but make ADRs for a character meal, and let them know it's your DD's birthday. At Crystal Palace (3rd) they received cards signed by all the characters. At Chef Mickey's (4th) the characters spent extra time with them, and they received a birthday cupcake. The best thing we did, however, was get the birthday badges at the park when we entered. At MGM the Power Rangers kept pointing to the badge, and giving the kids a thumbs up. We were curbside during the MGM parade and EVERY character in the parade waved to the kids, pointed to their badges, and gave them a thumbs up. The evil queen from Snow White walked over to my daughter and gave her such an evil look, and we told her, "The evil queen wants to know who is this girl that's as beautiful as Snow White?" Darth Vader (or as my son calls him - Dark Vader) also came right up to my son. They both still talk about it.

I am sure that some of this may be repetitive, but yes Definitely grab a pin at the Guest services in all the parks! We celebrated my ds's 7th Bday in Disney, and the CM's really paid extra special attention to him when they realized it was his B-day. We went to Whispering canyon for his Bday breakfast, and that was a hoot. About 150 people sang happy Bday to him in unison, plus they made him do the infamous pony stick ride. We pre-ordered a cake there, and it was delish, the waitstaff was so awesome about it! When we were in the parks, the Characters would go out of thier way to give him a hug or a High 5. At the CS locations, they would always throw in a dessert for him.
My sister made my ds a Buzz lightyear tshirt like a PP suggested that said "today is My Birthday!" on it. It was a bday he will never forget!

but this was our 1st family Disney vacation this past August and my kids are 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 and they both loved to go to the MK Barber shop they get to pick a color to put in there hair and they get it sprayed with pixie dust - all different colors.......after doing that in the late afternoon we went to our dnr reservation at Chef Mickeys and everyone commented on there hair and they LOVED Chef Mickeys.

Definitely get a birthday button at Guest Services (there's a different one at every park) and buy him the hat that looks like a birthday cake! He can wear it on future birthdays and he'll keep that stuff forever!

I took DD (just the 2 of us) for her 5th birthday in 2005 and can't wait to do the same for DS in 2008! I made her a personalized bday shirt and she got the birthday button at Guest Relations, but very few CMs/characters seemed to notice. We had a character breakfast (at CRT, natch) and dinner at Chef Mickey's on her day, and I noted the bday on both ADRs. There was a cupcake and appropriate fanfare at both locations.

I had made note of her birthday when I first made our hotel ressies too. I reiterated this upon check-in, and the CM at the desk asked me who her favorite character was. Late in the afternoon (while she was napping) on her birthday, Pop Century delivered some baloons and a card with Cinderella's photo and autograph. What a nice thing for her to wake up to!

But the most special moments were the unexpected pixie dust. I just hope my DS is as lucky when his turn rolls around. DD was very outgoing on this trip, and told just about every CM that it was her birthday (so it really didn't matter if they failed to notice the button or her shirt!). As a result of some of the conversations she got into, she received two birthday phone calls from Goofy, was given a couple of trading pins (from 2 different CMs) that she didn't have to trade for, was sung Happy Birthday to in Spanish by a lovely Hispanic CM, was sung to in English by a large group of CMs who were in training, and was deemed a Jr Chef and got to assemble her chocolate "moose" dessert at Le Cellier. The Le Cellier CMs also gave her a birthday card even though it was the night before her actual birthday.

Enjoy your trip and happy birthday to your DS!!!

My sister took her 6yr. old last year and they had a big bash at the Grand Floridian, 1900 Park Fare. She said that Cinderella and her friends are there and they bring her cake to her and put a special tiara on her head. So we decided to surprise our soon to be 7 year old with the same in May - can't wait!! You have to order the cake before you leave for $25 but with the dining plan, the meal is already paid for so I don't mind. My sister also said that other girls are having their birthdays at the same time and they usually all come dressed in their princess outfits!:wizard:
