I have been researching beauty products, trying to find a new skincare regimen, but I dont want to spend an arm and a leg.

So what are your favorite drugstore beauty products?
Makeup, face wash, moisturizer, night cream, etc???

I use Este Lauder makeup but I use Oil of Olay or the generic equivalent for cleaners and moisturizers. The Lauder kind made my face dry and red so I've been using OO ever since.

Avenno BAR clear complexion soap and clear completion lotion.

The bar soap is less than $5 and the lotion less than $15 it is amazing! i love it because my face feels clean and soft afterward. I have tried hundreds of skin care regimens and this has been the most successful!!! good luck beautiful princess:;)

I use olive oil cleansing bar and extra virgin olive oil for moisturizer, my skin looks great!

I use lotion from Victoria Secret (their natural line sandalwood and vanilla) or bath and body works. On lotion, VS usually has the products by 2 get the 3rd free (the regular lotion is about $10 the cream is $22) and I normally have a $10 off any purchase coupon, so I can buy 3 lotions at $10 each for $10. Due to allergies and such I have lots of problems with lots of things. I used to love St. Ives scrub, but can't really use it now due to the sulfate.

Can't help you on makeup, I have to use mineral based makeup and its expensive.

I use Cetaphil Daily Skin Cleaner along with Neutrogena facial products.

me too...I mix the olive oil with the Serious Skin Care line of Olive oil products bought off Ebay (much cheaper) and it has really improved my Florida skin and it is a great moisturizer...hubby is now using it !

I love the Neutrogena facial cleanser. I buy the liquid - a bottle of it costs about $8 at Walmart and will last me for months. I like their shampoo as well but discovered that the Walmart store brand works just as well so I buy it now to save a little more money.

As for makeup, I never buy department store brands - drugstore/Walmart/Target stuff only and a variety of it. I've been using Cover Girl liquid concealor for years. I recently switched from Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara to L'Oreal Voluminous and like it - it seems to be much more gentle on my lashes. For a long time I used Jane flavored lipsticks - they were cheap and had a color that worked great on me and lasted well. But I can't find those anymore.

Funny story - I worked in a dept store years ago selling Clinique and hated it. They insisted that my skin would eventually adapt to their products and be better for it but it never happened. After a few months, I went back to using my Neutrogena cleanser and my skin cleared up immediately. Very little of the makeup was to my liking either so I started mixing the few things I did like with all the drugstore stuff I was using before I went to work there. I didn't tell anybody at work cause we weren't supposed to use anything but Clinique. It was hilarious - I got so many "told you so" comments from the other girls working the counter. They thought my skin had just finally acclimated to the new stuff and never knew that it was cause I stopped using their junk.:rotfl: That was nearly 20 years ago and I've not bought any dept store cosmetics since then. And, not to brag, but at nearly 47yo I still get compliments on my skin. So, nope, don't need the expensive stuff.:)

I have super sensitive skin, and a very fair complexion. I tend to go red really easily if my skin gets azt all irritated. I am also on the dry side of normal. I use nutregena makeup remover towels, neutrogena alcohol free toner, and Olay sensitive skin moisturizer. Lotion in the summer and cream in the winter. I cannot ever wash with a washrag or my face will be cherry red.

I love the Aveeno Ageless products. They're a little it expensive for drugstore brands but there are usually coupons plus CVS often has them on sale or offers Extra-care bucks when you purchase.

It is funny that you say that. I cannot use clinique skincare either, but it is the only foundation I have found that both matches my skintone and works with my sensitive skin. I use the almost powder foundation.

Yeah, they did have some good products but nothing I couldn't live without. I'm lucky that I don't have super sensitive skin so there's just no reason for me to spend that much. I feel for folks who have such a hard time finding products they can use comfortably. I'm sure that gets frustrating (not to mention, expensive).

While I hated selling Clinique, it was certainly an eye-opening experience. We were trained to ALWAYS make sure the customer leaves the counter with at least 3 products. If they came in asking for lipstick, sell them on something to go with it - didn't matter what it was, just talk them into buying 2 additional products. I felt like I was conning people. Eventually I found a niche for myself by putting together a nice little collection of products for the pre-teen girls who came in wanting a makeover. I was trained to not spend too much time on them and to use a minimal amount of sample products because most of them just wanted a made-up face for their afternoon at the mall. They would wash it all off before they went home cause they weren't allowed to wear that much makeup yet. Well, I figured out that some of the Clinique products were so sheer that no matter how much the girls layered on, it was never going to be too dark or heavy. A few of them wore the stuff home instead of washing it off and the next thing I knew, moms were coming in asking for me to do the same for their daughters. Turns out it was a nice compromise for them - their little girls got to feel all grown up wearing makeup but Mom didn't have to worry about it being too grown up. Believe it or not, my surpervisors were not happy.:confused3 That wasn't in line with the way they wanted to promote the products or something. That experience is another reason why I don't go near dept store cosmetic counters. All that stuff about how you "need" this product to make one of the other products work properly is usually a load of BS. They're just trying to get you to buy more stuff.:sad2:

I have been using Burt Bee's Garden Carrot Complexion Soap and Say Yes to Carrots Day Moisturizer. At night I use the complesion soap and then apply olive oil with a cotton ball(use a warm washcloth to pat face til cloth cools). My skin has never looked so good. I did read somewhere that you could use the olive oil as a makeup remover too.

If you have a cvs by you then go there, keep your recipts & you can returns things that don't work for you & they always have great sales.

I have this same exact problem. I can't find anything that suits my skin without major problems. However, I really love the VS Natural Line. I use the Acai Berry & Magnolia but I'm leaning to try the Sandalwood & Vanilla. What type of mineral make-up you use? I use Bare Esecentuals. If you ever come across a good skincare regime, could you please share it with me :) xoxo! Thanks muches!

oh no! i use the clinique 3-step since it was recommended for my sensitive skin.. and boy oh boy does the step 2 exfoliation burn!! it turned my face red and extremely dry. i'm so upset. i stopped using it, & i just use step 1 and 3. i was TOLD i needed to get the second step for everything else to work. :headache:

There's a great beauty blog, nouveaucheap.blogspot.com. The author reviews tons of drugstore products, and often compares them to similar products from more expensive brands.

I have hyper sensitive skin so I don't wear much makeup. I use Dove bar soap in the shower for my body, Eucerin Redness Relief cleanser on my face, and Purpose SPF 15 moisturizer. Unless my face actually gets dirty, I just wash with warm water. I also have used clear glycerin soap (our local Hannaford sells it for $1-1.50 a bar) on my face and that has been fine as well. I use some Almay makeup, and I have a small set of Everyday Minerals I ordered online some time ago that I use when I actually wear makeup.

www.makeupalley.com is a good resource, too. You can look up brands and see how people have rated things. You do have to register, but it's free, and they haven't sold my email address or anything.

As for makeup, I use the expensive stuff for foundation, etc. due to my skin (I'm a Clinique girl-I've tried other brands and nothing has worked as well) but for the less important items, I love most anything from Ulta. While that's not a drugstore, the prices are comparable, and they run frequent sales. Often it's BOGO or certain items for $1, etc. I always get my eyeliner there for $1. I stock up then, but will pay full price if I run out, because it's that good and that reasonable.

Another plug for makeupalley.com. Great resource for researching all sorts of beauty products. I have done a bit of research on various products... trying to make my beauty routine more "budget friendly". Here are some of my favorite drugstore finds:

Cetaphil lotion
St. Ives Scrub
Biore ice cleanser and astringent
Max Factor Volume Couture mascara
Revlon colorstay eyeliner
Cody loose powder (soooo old school.... found this one on makeupalley. I get the unscented so I don't smell like my grandma. It goes on looking a little heavy, but then literally melts into your skin. Awesome and crazy cheap)
Kiss My Face Moisture Shave (its a lotion, not foam. I use soooo much less than I did with foam so the bottle lasts FOREVER).
Neutrogena skin care.... day and night lotions, serums, acne regimes and spot treatments. I have acne prone skin and I started out with a dermatologist and a prescription for Retin A. Then I made the move to Proactive and finally over to Neutrogena. My skin looks best using Neutrogena products.... they are really good. I have melasma and their new tone correcting line is really fab.

I also really like Roc products.... especially their night cream.
