I think she would know what the situation is. Nowadays, computerized registers can handle all sorts of things in one transaction. So there isn't a need to separate items anymore.

Again, you have to be staring at the screen to see it. Just not something I would do.

Those screens SHOULD be more private, but in the two markets I go to most often, it's easy for someone to inadvertently see it, not intentionally staring at it. Yet the pin pads where you swipe your debit card had this rubber type thing around the numbers, supposedly to ensure privacy, but it just gets in the way of my fat fingers.

yes this is true after the food is taken off you are given a new total and they tell you how much you have left on your card. if you stand behind a person on stamps you can see it on the computer

For what it's worth I'm a left leaner and believe in welfare reform, but food stamps keep food on kids plates. Drug test for those getting a check, or those claiming disability, or even those on unemployment, but not food stamps.

That's another good point. I know someone who has custody of her grandchildren She wants to adopt them but the parents refuse to sign over their rights. They don't pay any child support. I know she gets medicaid for them because she can't cover them under their employee medical until she adopts them. I think she may also get food stamps since the parents don't pay child support.

Not sure what you're meaning, but I sure hope grandma would pass a drug test if she is raising the grandkids.

I was responding to bsblady saying she can tell the people on food stamps because of what they're buying and how they're dressed. It's quite obvious that she's judging everyone that uses food stamps without knowing their situation.
