Dropped the ball and now no availability for CM for trip in 3 weeks

I have been checking the online reservation system every morning to see if availability pops up but so far no luck (looking for Chef Mickey breakfast for Feb. 21). I know some people will cancel - is there some specific time that those tables get put back in the system? Also, does Disney hold back some tables that are released later or is everything for Feb. 21 really already taken?

Thanks for any insights . . .

Sorry, but this is a doom and gloom post. They don't hold back tables, and I'd say everything is already taken -- there is a free dining promotion running and that's just a week after Pres Day.

There may be some cancellations but I don't think as many as in the past (not nearly as many) since people have to book with a CC now. But if they do cancel they're most likely to show up first thing in the am. I would try to find a replacement, and you might be pleasantly surprised to find a new favourite.

Thanks for the reply. CM just would work out really well because we are staying at the Contemporary for the first time.

I am curious about whether the new reservation system requiring a credit card leads to more or fewer cancellations. On one hand, people are less likely to make reservations they are not sure about. On the other hand, if they change their mind, they are more likely to call and cancel (as opposed to just not showing).

Things I learned about ADRs on my last trip in December..

We booked our trip 6 weeks ahead of our dates - not much to choose from. So...

There were tables for most party sizes popping up within a 2 week window on the ADR system. That is how I got our BOG dinner & 50s Primetime.. I just kept checking.

Also, subscribe to the February ADR cancellation thread. Lots of DISers post when they are going to cancel. They also post when they randomly see things suddenly appear on the ADR system.

Very helpful very important --- The cancellation policy for ADRs is 48 hours in most cases or you get charged the $10 x party size penalty. I had no trouble pulling up reservations at many of our Wishlist restaurants.

I have MDE open in another window right now and have a 5:20pm Chef Mickey on my screen for February 4/14

Play with the MDE app or website with your party size... you can not add a person at the check in... but you can downsize the number.

Good luck! ;)

ETA... just pulled a 11:30am breakfast for 4 or 6 same day Chef Mickey

Keep trying every day multiple times a day as people cancel all the time and you never know if/when something might become available. I would especially check the day or two before you want as some people might rethink their plans and cancel to avoid their cc being charged if they don't show up. I wouldn't give up hope just yet as anything can happen over the next couple of weeks. Good luck.

Are you able to even choose breakfast from the drop down menu now? I was able to up until yesterday, but now it doesn't show up. I went online daily for a week and was finally able to score a dinner reservation at CM, so my advice is to keep trying (although, if you're having the same drop down menu problem as me, maybe they aren't doing breakfast? I don't know...)

I think the drop down issue is a bug! If you know they are serving for that meal, then I would just close out your browser and open it again. It works for me.

As someone else suggested, I would recommend checking multiple times during the day to find at cancellation. They open up at different times depending on when a guest decides to cancel a reservation. I would even check up to the day of while you're on vacation. You never know. Good luck!

They go back in as soon as they are cancelled.

Disney does not hold tables for walk-ins.

You're not reserving a table. You're reserving the right to "jump the line" and be assigned the next table that will fit your party to open up. They don't hold tables open.
