DS who is 19 and at a developmental age of an 18month. I put that in so evereyone understands he does not speak or communicate so he can't tell us how he feels. DS used to have grand mal seizures. He was seizure free and on Tegratol for years. During puberty he started back with the seizures. He is now on Topamax and Lamictal (sp??). The grand mal seem to have calmed down, we still have about 1 a month but he is having drop seizures. Sometimes he has 4-5 a day. He looks as though someone is punching him in the gut and he just falls. Dr. is adjusting the meds but I just dont think it is the right combination for him. We are going back in 3 weeks. Anyone have any good advice about meds to ask about. We love our neuro, he is a great Dr and will talk to us , gave us his home number etc but I just feel these meds are not the right ones for my boy. We now have to have a helmet and that is going over like a lead balloon!! Thanks.

Do you know of any internet forums for people with seizure disorders? that might be a place to get the answers you want. I was able to find several diabetes websites and that is how I have gotten the info I need on how to treat my disease. It might help you to go there since you will have a group of people who exist to share informtion on that subject.

Hi D,L and K's Mom,

Atonic ("drop attack") seizures are hard to control. My wife used to have them daily when she was experiencing a period of heavy seizure activity. She made changes to her meds while also using EEG neurofeedack, adopting a special diet and establishing a regular 9hr/night sleep routine.
