We are considering getting a Droid 2 phone for me. I currently have a voyager that is nice, but I'm due for an upgrade. The worst thing about the voyager is getting into the internet is a huge, slow pain.
DH bought a droid X for himself. He had a blackberry storm before. He wanted a Droid 2 but they were out of them and as he was going out of town the next day, he wanted to upgrade that day. He really likes it.
I used his blackberry this summer when we went on a trip and my voyager died (I forgot my charger). I HATED HATED HATED trying to text on his blackberry. I couldn't use my nails, and I kept hitting the wrong letters and then I'd have go back....it took 5 minutes to send a text that would have taken me seconds with my voyager keyboard. So a keyboard is a MUST for me, hence, the droid 2.
Anyone care to share any good or bad stories regarding the droid phones?

Droid 2 is great! It's my first phone w/a keyboard - I didn't expect to use it (the Droid X was out-of-stock so I got the D2) but I love having a keyboard! I use the phone for everyday things like email, txt, weather, portfolio, navigation, calendar, calls, internet. Do you have any specific questions?

Not really....I use my phone to text but I'd like to have some faster internet so I could use that more often. I use my calendar quite a bit too. I would probably get a case for it because that's saved my voyager a couple of times. One of the reasons DH got his was to have the mobile hot spot for his Ipad, but I don't have one of those!
How's the battery life?

I'm glad somebody started this thread. I'm looking at getting a Droid phone to for Verizon and am trying to decide between the Droid 2, the Droid X and the Droid Incredible. The comparisons seem so close. What's of utmost importance to me is that I get Android 2.2 to get the flash support.

DS18 has the original Droid, I have the Droid X. I LOVE the virtual keyboard on the Droid X. I would think that would be MUCH easier to type if you have long nails then a regular keyboard with buttons you have to push. I don't have long nails though.

The Droid X is BY FAR my favorite phone ever. The internet is VERY fast, unless I am deep inside a concrete building (like in the bathroom of a sports stadium during a tornado warning :lmao:). The Droid 2 and the X both have 2.2 so that isn't an issue. The battery life on the X since the 2.2 has been wonderful. I get about 3 days of regular use on one battery charge.

The screen on the X is noticeably larger so that is what really made the difference when I got my X vs the 2. Being on the internet on the X is much easier I think.

We have an LG Ally droid phone and love it. I can only imagine that a Droid 2 will be that much better. I would have no concerns about getting it.

I have the Droid Incredible and I love it. The internet is really fast - sometimes I go to my Droid when my computer is slow at home because the Droid is faster! I use the calendar lot as well - one thing I had to do was adjust my phone settings because my Facebook was synched to my phone, and ALL my fb friends birthdays were on my calendar cluttering it up. Of course the Incredible has the virtual keyboard, which is okay by me since I can turn the phone sideways and the keyboard gets twice as big as compact view. My only complaint is battery life - if I use my phone a lot (data and apps as well as phone calls) I need to re-charge it during the day. I checked out the Droid 2 and it was a little clunky for me (due to the slide out keyboard) and the Droid X was a little too big for my taste. Good luck getting a Droid - I definitely would recommend it to anyone :thumbsup2

I got a Droid X and kept it for a total of 4 days. Phone is okay but OMG Verizon is the pits. I thought AT&T was bad. OMG AT&T looks like the Ritz Carlton with Verizon being a seedy motel 6. All of my dropped AT&T call problems went away with the new phone.

I had to pay a major restocking fee for the Droid X - plus now they are houding me for $175 for having the service for 4 days. I made about 4 short phone calls.

Verizon continually lied to me and they were rude beyond belief. I'd lost my original phone and credit card. They told me I absolutely could not return the phone as I didn't not have the original card (which had been lost/stolen and cancelled).

And I live in Little Rock where we have a major Verizon center - I wanted to work with a local company,

My sister ended up doing me a favor and returned the phone for me (2nd attempt). There was a huge line. She had to wait about 45 minutes. She spent the entire time on her iphone reading emails, etc. She said she thought they were going to physically evict her from the store for using an iphone in the store.

We have had Verizon for over 5 years and have NEVER had an issue with them. What was so bad??

Maybe it was the actual phone? When I got my first Droid Incredible, I had a huge problem with dropped calls - probably 4 out of every 5 calls I made or received dropped within a minute or two. I returned the phone and got a new one, and haven't had any problems since.

Sounds exactly like my predicament.
I get to upgrade next week on my birthday, and I want a phone that will allow me to do everything I do on my IPOD touch, but without having to look for WiFi

Exactly my predicament (except I am eligible for my upgrade in April). Now if you tell me your b-day is the 4th, I'll wonder if we were twins separated at birth :lmao:
