Angry birds.

Angry birds is the best way to kill time I've found yet. You shoot birds from a slingshot at the pigs to kill the pigs. There is a free version.

I just got an Android phone last week and so far I´ve downloaded:
Disney Wallpaper
Twitter
Google Reader
TripIt
FxCamera
Angry Birds
Word Search
Jewels

A basic over view of stuff to do for 1st time users.

Some apps to consider, just search the Market to find.

Adobe Flash - enables internet webpages to use flash
Barcode Scanner - scan a UPC barcode and use that info
Google Shopper - find stuff cheaper elsewhere while shopping
Google Goggles - point the camera at something, it tells you where/what it is
Google Translate - translate stuff
Bubble - use your phone as a level
Key Ring - scans in all your rewards cards so you don't need them at store
Shazam - hold up your phone, it tells you the song currently playing on radio
Urban Spoon - pick a place to eat
Rocket Bunnies - game

My apps:

250+ solitaire (various card games)
Adobe
Angry Birds
Back-up Assistant from Verizon
Bar Code Scanner

Also, the kindle app that came with the phone. I get lots of free books from Amazon that work great on my phone. Perfect for when you're stuck in a dr. office or even on a plane.

I'm always looking for more great apps.

Subbing - I just got a Droid 2 too! Loving all of the app suggestions - the first one we (DD got one too!) was Zedge - AWESOME ringtones and wallpapers - I currently have "witch doctor" - you know oo, ee, oo aah, ahh, ting tang walla walla bing bang - as my ringtone! There is a specific one for my DH - it says "Alert - Alert - Your Husband is calling - Your Husband is calling!" Keep the app ideas coming!

How does Catch link to your computer? Do you have an app downloaded on your computer too? Can you type on your computer and have it update on your phone too?

The catch app is free. You register a name and password then are able to input notes, pics, video, etc. When you pull up catch.com on your computer, the notes are there. So far I really like it, because DH and I can see each others notes - i.e. grocery lists, kids reminders, etc.

Oh I forgot to mention that we have a grocery store app called Grocery IQ that we LOVE. You can just bar code scan your items when you run out and it automatically adds it to your grocery list!

2 words...ANGRY BIRDS!!!

Also, its free!

I've had my Samsung Android Epic for 3 weeks now. I LOVE this phone! I also downloaded the "Nook" app. You can download books from BarnesandNoble, and read them from this app! Pandora for the web radio. The best Twitter app (if you are into that sort of thing) is Tweetcaster. Also, the apps that scan barcodes in stores and give you prices, SO COOL!!! I put a live aquarium wallpaper on my phone the other day. I find myself watching them swim around, you can even feed them! There's a Dory & Memo fish too! :thumbsup2

Oh, QVC has a great app. You can buy items from your phone!

just when I thought I had control of my battery life on my new android, I opened this thread. :scared1:

Another GREAT application/combination--Bar Code Scanner and FB Reader. You can scan the 3D bar code thing on sites like Gutenberg.org and do a download of the book (epub version). I just downloaded about 10 books in about 3 minutes using these. These are public domain books that are all free :thumbsup2

I will be upgrading to a Droid soon, just not sure which one, these suggestions are great!:goodvibes
