How far would you drive before you would consider flying? I have done both with infants to teens. Time wise vs cost wise I am not sure.

Anything over 12 hours. We live 18 hours away....Have avoiding driving, or I have avoided driving by signing up for delta Sky Miles card. (which I just got rid of) Now I have moved over to southwest.

We drive about 1,100 to WDW. There are 4 of us and driving is much cheaper and least restrictive with packing. We flew in 2011 and did not like it.

We're at 1050 miles... Roughly 17 hours...

We started out in 1977 driving, then a few Amtrak trips, one Auto Train trip, a couple of flights, some more car trips and then a whole bunch of Amtrak trips ....we're back to car trips again...

Amtrak trips have a 8 hour layover in DC...

Auto Train was a 9 hour drive to Lorton and discovered we didn't need a car in WDW..

Flying, lets just say I hate it passionately..

Driving, 16 hours is a pleasant drive, we stop at the Florida Welcome Center for a 2-3 hour rest and get to WDW around 5-6 am... Like a whole free day...

Flying is easier but such a hassle. We fly out Little Rock and had to stop in St Louis which is going the opposite way before flying to Orlando.... It's about a 14/15 hour drive. Plus the expense of a rental car when we get there since we are offsite..

12 hrs. Someday I want to take 2 weeks and drive from Ma to WDW...stopping along the way.

I'm agreeing with 12 hours of driving as our cut off point as well.

10 hours is the break even for me. Anything closer & it's a 50/50 shot you'll actually get there faster in your car (at least with my luck) :lmao:

So, I won't hesitate to drive much, much further than that. 2 full days in each direction is about the max before I start looking at making the trip MUCH longer though to make it worthwhile.

We are driving right this very second. Well hubby is behind the wheel. :) We live in MD and prefer to fly but we now like having our van too. It depends on how long a trip we take. If we can't be at Disney at least 8-10 days we FLY. We are stopping over night .... No more driving straight thru!!
