Driving vs Flying

I would fly it. You can get cheap flights now day, and you would get there faster, and you wouldnt have to worry about forking out money on gas, or risking the fact the car might break down on the way, and will cost you even more money to get fixed and time waiting for the repair.

We usually fly down, haven't driven down for about 10 years. But I found while planning our trip for Feb. flights are very expensive for when we can go (university winter break). Flights for 4 people would be around $1700 US (Southwest out of Buffalo) plus we would need to rent a car, so we have now decided to drive. We have 4 drivers so we will drive thru the night giving us an extra day and avoiding a motel cost. Coming home though, we will take two days so that our 2 university students are not too exhausted to get back to studying!!!!

So for us it did simply come down to economics. Flights plus rental car was going to be so much more than we could drive down for. But I am doing it because we will have 4 drivers and that helps alot. If it was just the two of us, or I had young children, I would probably not drive.

Yeah...... $250-350 for gas, or $1200-1700 for flights. Your car breaking down is as likely as the flights being delayed, snowed in, etc. anything can happen. Truth is flying is much faster and convenient, while driving is MUCH cheaper.

Best quotes,
from Cheap Flights:
TO-Orl leaving Monday Nov 20- indirect on WestJet $271+taxes and Fees/person =$1235.76 + departure fees. Leaves Pearson at 7am.

from Ultimate Fares:
Buffalo- Orl leaving Wednesday Nov29- indirect on Delta (Stop at JFK) for $94.75 USD+ fees and taxes (Tax on full price not discount fare). $450USD = fees. This one leaves Buffalo at 6am, which means a departure from home at midnight, or a stay in Buffalo (there goes another $100USD).

Add in the convenience of having your own vehicle, instead of Disney buses, and cabs. Add the ability to bring almost unlimitted souveniers back. Savings is very large.
I won't lie to you, driving straight through, even with 2 drivers is tiring. 2- 10hour plus days can be too much for some. For us though, the drive is part of the adventure. We don't count down to the day we arrive at Disney, we include the trip down. The book Along the I75, is a must, and so is some planning (hotels on the way down must have an indoor pool).
