Has anyone had a spectator drive to the finish a little later in the morning to meet them?

Example: Friend is bringing my daughter to the finish and I would like her to drive there, not take the buses, so that I can sit in a comfy car/have change of clothes/get back to the resort faster...

BUT, I want them to be able to sleep in, I don't need or want them to come at 5am (don't want my dd crabby all afternoon in the parks! LOL) and was hoping I could take the bus to the race and they could drive at say...8am?...to Epcot. Estimating I'll be done around 8:45. Will they have all roads completely shut and they won't be able to get to Epcot without taking a bus?

I know I could drive myself in her car and have them take a bus and meet me, but I don't really want the stress of diving before the race either.

Yes, this is my first half and I'm stressing over transportation b/c it's easier than stressing over the race! :lmao:

Soooo, has anyone ever had someone drive to the finish later in the morning? Is this possible at all? :confused3

This should work. Avoid roads that are part of the course. Entrance to EPCOT is closed from 5 am to 7 am. I believe you have to pay to enter EPCOT parking after 7 am.

Ok, YES. This is what I needed was definitive info about what was closed and when. Coming from Pop Century to Epcot I'm thinking it's just the entrance road that would be an issue? And thank you for reminding me that I need to ask for a parking pass for her as she is staying with us for a night at the resort. :thumbsup2

If it were me, I'd seriously consider reversing it, and driving myself early before traffic gets heavy (i.e. 3:15am or so) which would be an added bonus shelter if there is inclement weather, then have them take the bus later on. I think driving pre-race is much simpler than driving mid-race (and pre-rope-drop), and the bus drivers have the edge over cars during that later period.
