Driving to The parks - which option is best?

Hi all:thumbsup2

I've currently got a 11 night vacation booked and the reservation is split between BLT (4 nights purely for walking to MK - our fav park!) and 7 nights AKV (driving to the other three). But I am thinking of changing the second part of the booking as we want to try some other resorts and wanted advice as to which would be the best option in terms of driving to the other parks please.

We're thinking of 3 nights at GF and 4 nights at BWV. Because of the way our dates fall, we would need to visit DHS whilst at GF (as we want to see the last night of Osborne lights) - so I guess my question is really - is driving from GF to DHS a pain compared to driving there from AKV?

I know that by trading out of AKV that driving to AK will be farther from either GF or BWV, but I guess what we lose there we'd gain by having the ability to walk to Epcot from BWV. So I guess the driving time to DHS might swing us one way or the other!

Many thanks for any advice:thumbsup2

I don't think it really matters much. You're only talking about a small difference in time to any of the parks...5 minutes difference or less. The only time traffic on-property can be an issue is in the Downtown Disney area; traveling to any of the parks from AKV is a longer distance trip, but time is negligible. (Actually, there may be a slight penalty for DHS, since the way you get there from AKL is a little indirect). I'd discount the driving issue and stay where you like the resort.

I agree with the PP. We drive almost all the time at WDW and it really isn't much of a difference time-wise getting to the parks. Try not to over-think it. Stay at the resorts you will enjoy the most and don't worry about the trips to the parks.

Staying at BW gives you the option to walk to 2 parks, Epcot and HS. You can also take the friendship boats to both parks. You would only have to drive to AK.

Driving to Hollywood Studios can be time consuming at park opening as the road into the Studios is rather short and traffic backs up onto Buena Vista Drive (a main street). A few times, we have been stuck in traffic on Buena Vista for 5 lights before being able to make the turn into Hollywood Studios.
If you are thinking about staying at BWV, you might want to stay there for your DHS time and taking the boat over.
