Driving to San Diego from DL - Traffic?

We're leaving DL on Monday morning, June 28, to catch a 10:15am flight out of San Diego. What time would you all recommend leaving the GCH to safely ensure making the flight? We have to drop a car at Dollar as well... I was thinking maybe 6:30am to be at the airport by 8:30- 8:45? Is that doable? Many thanks in advance!

I'd make it 5:30am. If you leave later the traffic will be think and slow.

Returning the car is easy in SD by the airport. But the gas stations near the rental cars are the most expensive in the whole region. I'd try getting on and off the freeway at Mission Bay Dr. to top it off.

I would do the 0530 to make sure yo get there. Everytime I go to SD the drive seems to take more time in the later hours.

For traffics sake I say the same. In fact I say spend your last day in San Diego, enjoy the city and don't worry about the drive the next day.
