Driving to HH - Help please!

WTOP (1500 am/107.7 fm)gives traffic reports for the DC metro area (DC/MD/VA) every 10 minutes on the 8's. When coming south on 95, you should be able to pick them up on am just south of Baltimore.

Regarding the tv. I have an Odyssey and at Target you can buy from the car accessory aisle a "wedge" that says it is not used for tv's in a car but the picture on the box clearly shows a tv on top of it in a car. It has straps to attach the TV securely and wedges it under the table in the middle of the Odyssey at a perfect angle for the kids to see.

Thanks so much for the tip. We have an Odyssey and this is exactly the type of information that I was looking for.

I drove from Wakefield to Disney in Feb 2002. Left at 4 am. Didn't hit any "traffic". But I drive into Boston every day during rush hour. So when I tell you I didn't hit any traffic, I had slow downs, but moving at 20 mph, isnt' traffic to me. Stopped, not moving is traffic. Being able to put on mascara, is traffic. LOL So I didn't hit the type of traffic, that I would have felt comfortable putting on my mascara.

As for the TV/VCR combo, I have seen bags, in the electronics section that the TV fits in and you harness the bag to your seats. I have just the VCR in a bag. The bag goes between the bucket seats, and the screen comes out and attaches to the head rest of the front seat. And believe it or not, my DS, aged 5 at the time only watched 1 movie a day. He wasn't interested. He enjoyed the sites.

Hi,
You might want to check out www.usastar.com and click on I-95 Exit Information Guide. It's extremely helpful. I leave from the Hudson Valley in NY around 1 AM and miss all traffic around Washington. Good Luck, and enjoy HH!:)

Lat, I live in DC and can help here I think. I-495 is okay on the way to I-95 around the dc area as long as you pass after 9-10 am in the morning...up until 3:00 or so in the afternoon. The note about staying away from the Springfield interchange on certain dates is valid. There was a 14 mile back-up here last Saturday night when they were doing some of the work there and that is exactly where I-495 meets I-95 (they call it the "mixing bowl"). A good radio station for traffic is 107.7 (all news) and they do the traffic every ten minutes. Good luck.

The family and I just returned home from HH after 9 glorious days of fun, sun and great DVC memories. We live in Lancaster Pa and plan one drive a year to WDW. The time you leave will determine your route. If you leave early in the morning you will hit Baltimore/ DC / Richmond traffic and it will add 2 plus hours to your trek. If you leave late at night as we did, around 11pm or so you will fly through the area.

We made the 698 mile trek in 11 hours after subtracting the fuel stops and meal breaks at the nearby Cracker Barrel. We arrived at 12:30 and were able to get into our 2 bedroom immediately. I do recommend the I-295 wrap around Richmond to eliminate any possible delay in Richmond. The road is 3 and some places 4 lanes wide and the speed limit is what ever you feel comfortable with. If you plan on riding the left lane plan on exceeding 90 mph.

Hope this is helpful.
