YIKES! We're going in May next year and will drive. Haven't ever gone in spring previously.

What should we know because I've read those things can damage your car's paint?

The biggest thing is get them off as soon as you can.

Yup. Started seeing them last week in small numbers. Looks like they've really hatched out now. My wife said they were really bad where she works in Winter Haven yesterday.

& do NOT use your windshield wipers to clear them - that just smears a big mess all over your windshield - not that I learned that the hard way after moving down here or anything, LOL!

I use RainX for bug removal in the windshield washer bottle. Works OK for a small amount but like DoryGirl says, eventually it just smears. I also keep a bottle of Glass Plus. Spray it on the glass and let it sit for a couple minutes, then use the wipers with the washer fluid. The Glass Plus does a pretty good job of disolving them. At least enough to see.
It's a struggle for a couple weeks for sure, then it ends. Only to come back again in September!
