Driving to Florida around Christmas

We are planning a cruise from FL the week before Christmas and plan to drive down from Ontario. We are also thinking we might tag 4-5 days on after the cruise to revist DW (haven't decided for sure on that one yet....we would have to make sure with dh's parents that we can skip Christmas and they won't disown us)....anyway....just wondering what your experience has been driving down in Dec....bad weather? We have 2 1/2 days to get down...and no rush at all on the way home....

I would reccomend I-75 for the drive and for this reason if you hit some bad weather and need to stop there are far more places along that interstate to stay at than there are going the other route. Plus other than in Tenn you don't actually travel in the mountains in a snowy area.
