Hello as I try to get the rest of my trip in order Im looking for some advice on my road trip.

Ok so it will be a family of 3. DW and 3yr DS on this road trip. Now I know its a long drive down I95 from NYC, but it's alot cheaper than flying and renting a car once there.

So I ask where can we spend the night? I figure it's going to take 2 days to get there so I need a Nice safe place to spend the night with my family before continuing on to FLA the next day.

Frinds tell me I want to drive to go Georgia and get aroom there. Dont know how long the drive to Georgia would be on the first day, but Im open for suggestions here.

Im only 20min away from Jersey turnpike where I will start my journey so if you have made this drive from up here and have some recommendations please post thanks.

We left Kutztown (near Allentown, PA, about 2 hrs. from NYC)
at 3:50 AM, reached NC at 9:38 AM, reached SC at 12:25 PM,
reached GA border at 3:40. STayed, for the first time, in
Darien, GA at a nice Hampton Inn. Arrived in Darien, GA by
5:40 PM. We left Darien, the following morning, at 5:40 AM and
reached Disney by 9:15.
Normally, we stop in Kingsland, GA, on the border of GA/FL, but
that may be a little too far for you from NYC and with a 3 yr. old.
The area of Savannah, GA has nice stops also - nice Country Inn
& Suites we have stayed at before. If you want more lengthy
times (what time we reached what area) - let me know. I have
always kept a time itinerary. - Lucy.

Thank you lwilliam

Looks like you made some good time there. I figure I will get on the road about 4 or 5am, I know for sure I will be heading south on the turnpike by 6am.

I would like to reach the GA border as you did. It makes day two a little easier for all of us. Sure Im going to take my time and make the needed stops for my son to go potty, but I think I can do it. Now was that Hampton Inn close to I95. How would I know which one it is? I dont know if I need to call in advance for a room.

all the hotels we stay in are right off I-95.
Fortunately we had a free night at
this Hampton Inn due to enough Hilton Honor Points.
Right next door to this Hampton Inn was a (needless to say our
12 yr. old was in 'heaven') Taco Bell/Pizza Hut/KFC that we
carried back to our room. We were too exhausted to visit any
other restaurant but there are others in the area, including
an outlet center, of which I was planning on enjoying but too tired. My DH and son took a dip in the outdoor pool. We did not
wait around for the free continental breakfast in the morning - left the hotel too early (when it comes to getting to Disney, my
DH is up at the crack of dawn). Also, in Savannah, not too far
away, a Hampton Inn or Country Inn & Suites is right off
I-95. If you are interested I can let you know about other stops
we made. Also, during the day, we make fast food stops in
addition to rest stops.
