I read and read about the driving trips to disney and how so many people are looking forward to it. MY DW and I along with our 2 DS's (will be 6 and 2 when we take off) were planning on driving down in Sept. from Chillicothe, Ohio. My DW didn not want to drive, she didnt think she could handle the two boys and me for 15 hours in the same car, you know cartoons and constant bickering between the young ones. I just kept on telling her that it wouldnt be bad and the last time we did this it didnt take any time at all except for the snow storm we hit outside Huntington, WV. I pretty much had her convinced this was the best way to go. So you ask me why are we flyng now? Well i was responding to another post on this board and as i typed our plans of driving and how it was to shape out, i realized that I am the idiot. For a measly 2-300 more we can all fly get down to disney a day earlier and actually rest before we start the wonderful vacation. So if your driving from OH-IO YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO AIRTRAN OUT OF DAYTON OR INDY the prices are really reasonable and the planes are good size for all flights. The larger planes was a good thing. Also they dont charge for strollers, was worried about this since we are taking a double and all airlines are trying to get every dime they can.

I just checked out Airtran yesterday and yes they do have cheap prices, but on another post I read I was turned off. The post read that Airtran changed the flight times, direct flight to a 1 stop, and seating arrangements were all over. I would make sure your flights are what you paid for and that no changes will take place.

Same thing happened to friends of ours in Indiana-AirTran changed their flights from non-stop to ones with 1-2 stops and didn't even notify them either. That definitely wouldn't make me feel comfortable using them.

We are booked on AirTran for September out of Detroit (first time flying with them). After I read about all the changes here on the Dis, I checked my reservation and sure enough the flights had changed.

I phoned them and they put me on a non-stop for the way down. The return had a slightly different departure, but it was okay.

The changes worked to our advantage; HOWEVER, I did not receive any communication from AirTran ... just keep an eye on things.

Regarding seating, there is a charge to get advanced seating assignments - I paid the fee and so have seating just where I want it.

so far no changes, both are non stop. If they change me from no stops to one stop it wouldnt bother me to much. I looked at flights that were filling up and hopefully they wouldnt change a full flight. keeping fingers crossed

I just wanted to chime in here to say that I have flown on AirTran 3-4 times out of Dayton and I have never had my flights changed. I wonder if the changing of flights happens more at specific airports?

Enjoy your trip!
