Driving route fom Orlando to Everglades Ft Lauderdale

We will drive to Ft Lauderdale on Sunday Dec 23rd after staying one week in Orlando. We would like to arrive at the port by noon. I heard we should avoid from I595 and take Turnpike. Can anyone tell me the what time we should leave and the route we should take? Thanks

If you are a member of CAA, go to triptiks to get a customized map. If you aren't a member, you can go to mapquest to do the same.

Going via the turnpike will save you about 30min vs going via I95. IMO it's an easier drive, too. Mapquest gives an estimated drive time of 3 1/2 hrs from WDW to Ft. Lauderdale via the turnpike. I'd add on an extra 30 min for local traffic at either end.
