Just in case anyone is driving this fall...bump
I live about 20 minutes from Smithfield, NC and work in Wilson, NC. If anyone has specific questions on those areas, I can answer them or get the answer.
We've stayed 3 times at the Days Inn 15 min north of Savannah--the address is
105 Travelers Way. I-95 Exit 109. Port Wentworth, GA 31407
I can add 2 more hotels to the list!!
On the way down we stopped at a Comfort Suites in Brunswick, GA off of exit 29. It was clean and the room was just what we needed to rest our heads for the night. We got a 2 queen with sleeper sofa since we are a family of 5. The offered a warm breakfast which looked like just waffles and sausage along with cereal, bagels, and oatmeal which you made yourself. We skipped it and went to the McDs next door mainly because there was people everywhere and no place to sit. There was 2 gas stations right there and a steak and shake across the street that we tried the night before. Plus we got a great rate. I believe with tax it was $87. We did book ahead and did the no cancellation thing but we have done the drive before and knew that even if we did get delayed a few hours we could still make it there.
Now on the way home we ran into the snow. We wanted to get into VA but we made it as far as Wilson, NC. I had made a reservation at a Hampton inn while driving and when we got there they said they had no rooms for us. Only a king bed room. yeah 5 people and 1 bed I think NOT!!! Thankfully she was able call the brand new comfort suites that they also owned across the street and we had the same type of room as we had going down. With AAA discount it ended up being $80 which was much cheaper then the Hampton I had booked. Now I can tell you there is a ton of food around but due to snow everyhting was closed. We ended up tracking down hotdogs at a gas station for dnner. So not fun. But the hotel was clean and adequate.
I'd love to hear about your vacation too! Anyhoo...I added the first hotel. Can you verify that this is the hotel before I post? adequate isn't a good term...would you stay at this hotel again? Is adequate a result of the snow situation?Comfort Suites, 6415 Southern Village Drive, Wilson, NC, US, 27896 http://www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-wilson-north_carolina-NC566?sid=zufW.P9D6rgn3B.13&sarea=408050&sname=Wilson%2C+NC%2C+US&sstate=NC&scountry=US&sradius=80.00&slat=35.72171&slon=-77.91615&schain=CS&exp=&scity=&sort=&type=&map=n&rstart=Starting+Location&rend=Ending+Location&srp=RACK&nroom=1&nadult1=1&nchild1=0&nadult2=&nchild2=&nadult3=&nchild3=&nadult4=&nchild4=&nadult5=&nchild5=&sstate_country=
Any suggestions for a nice hotel off 95 in the Rocky Mount area or Fayettevill NC area? We are driving next month from Norther NJ, leaving around 4pm and think this may be a good stop for the night.
I don't know anything about Rocky Mount but we stayed the night in Wilson, NC and they a ton of options. Its about 20 miles from Rocky Mount. The Comfort Suites there was brand new and cheap!
Has anyone stayed at the Comfort Inn in Lumberton,NC? Gets great reviews, but love to hear what other disers have found. Thanks!
