Driving from St. Louis to Mobile! Need a place to stay in Mobile or before Mobile!

We are driving from St. Louis to Mobile alabama for a cruise and need a hotel for one night! We are not sure we can make it to Mobile so maybe looking for something an hour or two from there. Not familiar with the area at all! Looking for places to stay along the way that would be a nice, safe place to stop for the night. Thanks!!

not sure which way you are going. We live in STL and drove to Gulf Shores in 2007. We stayed in Jackson, Mississipi over night, but that might just be a little too far for you.

If you want somewhere nice just to sleep, I recommend the Holiday Inn in Saraland just outside Mobile.

We drove from ST. Louis to Dauphin Island (which connects to Mobile via a bridge) in a day.We did it with 2 kids and it was a long day but not horrible. I think with all the stops we had to make for the kids (and my dad and his self-described "old man bladder") it was about 14 hours.

OH MY! That's a trek! You'll be driving what 12+ hours to get to Mobile? If you drive that far(outside of Mobile) you might as well go on into Mobile, otherwise I'd pick a city about 6 or 8hrs down the road from ya.

There's not a cheap flight out of St. Louis huh? That stinks!

There are a couple extra nice hotels (think expensive) across the street from the boat - one is a Marriot the other a Radisson I believe. Down the road is one of the chains - I wanna say its a Holiday Inn. It sits on like royal street or government. Just be aware a lot of those streets are one way and are very confusing at night!
