We are driving back to Miami for our flight back to the UK this Wednesday, and we are looking for something to do on the way, I really don't want to drive all the way through with just bathroom stops we fancing stopping somewhere. There will be me (the only driver), DH and youngest DS 14. Any suggetions would be gratefully recieved. Thanks

We will be driving from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando and we are thinking we will drive up the coast and stop at the DVC resort at Vero Beach for lunch and maybe a round of mini golf.

There really isn't much to do at all. You can do the drive in only about 3-3.5 hours if you take the Turnpike. If anything, get to Miami as early as you can and maybe enjoy a lunch on South Beach before your flight. The airport is located very close to the city center.

You could stop and ride the Dania beach Hurricane. It is the longest wooden coaster in Florida.

The most direct route from Orlando to Miami is via Florida's Turnpike. Unfortunately, it is extremely rural and there isn't much to see or do. Even in South Florida, the road runs well to the west of much of the built-up areas so there isn't much to see here either.

You might consider switching over to I-95 when you get to the Fort Pierce exit. Continue south then on I-95 and exit at Palm Beach Gardens exit signed as PGA Blvd. Heading east here takes you onto State Road A1A and then down to Palm Beach where there a many millionaire houses along the ocean. i.e. the Kennedy compound. SR A1A from North Miami Beach down to South Beach can be interesting due to all the old art deco buildings. Or maybe not.

Thank you all so much for your replies.

Really would like to stop as the only driver I will want to break the journey up a bit, we are thinking of taking the I95 as the turnpike had hardly any traffic but was quite a boring drive, will decide later where to stop. Thanks again

Oh my gawd.. that would take FOREVER!!!! :rotfl:

If you haven't seen it before, and it'd be before you got to the Ft Pierce crossover, stop at Yeehaw Junction. There's not a whole lot to see there, but it's kinda rural/old Florida at it's "finest" :lmao:

If nothing else stopping there you might see a chicken cross the road..
