Driving to WDW in May. On the way down we are stopping south of Richmond at Chester, VA. Read a couple of good reviews and deceided to take the chance there. (Got a Fairfield Inn on priceline for $24room X2 rooms- there are 5 of us)
I don't know where to stop for the ride home(I like to make reservations ahead of time) I would like to stop about 10 hours north of WDW, probably around Fayetteville, NC(X49) Last time we were there we stayed at the Holiday Inn and I wasn't crazy about it.(a party in the hall, bugs in the room etc.)

Should I try another hotel at that exit(may be Days Inn??? or another hotel) or try another town.
I found a good rate at Quality Suites in Rocky Mount but then I read a bad report about it. Anyone been there lately????

Any one with any experiences of good/bad I95 North Carolina hotels???

This board is the greatest!!!!

We've been driving down to WDW from Jersey Shore the last few years. We're obviously just south of you a few hours. On our way down, we usually leave at 5:30 am and arrive in Florence, SC about 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm the latest. That's enough for one day! We stayed in Florence at Courtyard by Marriott 1st time and last year at Hampton Inn & Suites. Both were great and this year we're trying the new Springhill Suites. All are located on Hospitality Blvd. in Florence.

On the way home, the last 2 times (and for this coming July) we've stayed at Courtyard by Marriott also in Rocky Mount, NC. This is at 250 Gateway Blvd (252-451-4800). We get a King Suite with sleeper sofa in Living Room (we like to spread out!). We're usually 3 but last year took nephew so we had 4. Very nice hotel and room. There is also a Residence Inn by Marriott basically across street but are unable to get (leaving July 3). Good luck to you and any more info. please e-mail.

Bumping this back to page 1.
Come on-- Has any one else stayed in Nc hotels along I95 recently?? Please tell me where you stayed and how you liked it.
Looking for safe and clean hotels !

We're trying to decide the same for our April trip.
We drive straight down from central Jersey - 17 hrs of adrenaline.
We leave like 8pm so kids will sleep the night . We have 4 drivers in our minivan so it's do-able. The way home no one wants to get home so we stop.
Last time we just drove until DH was tired and had trouble finding a reasonable hotel. The one we did find was very dirty.
Trying to plan ahead this time any other ideas for VA/NC border?
The page that shows which hotels at what exits doesn't list the towns.
Guess I'll have to check a map;)

In Jan. we stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Fayetteville. I think it was at exit 49. It was nice and clean.
We also stayed at Springhill Suites in Florence, SC on the way down to Florida. This hotel opened last Sept. Our room had two beds and a sleeper sofa. I don't remember the exit number, maybe 160. The hotel is on Hospitality Blvd.

We have always liked the Best Western at Exit 98 in Santee, SC. We drive from Long Island, NY. It is a little further (about halfway through SC), but we have always had a good experience there.

Hello Singitalto- Didn't you do the western cruise with us this past 1/17/04? We are also going to WDW in May, 5/27-6/1. We're flying again from MacArthur.

Last summer we stayed at Mt. Airy, SC at Hampton Inn. It's the town where Andy Griffith grew up. It's a quaint town-the barber shop was the pattern for Floyd's barber shop in the show. Remember the Andy Griffith show- Mayberry RFD. The hotel was spotless, very nice breakfast bar and wonderful chocolate chip cookies and coffee were available in the evening.

About 10 minutes after we were in the room, the front desk called to ask if everything was satisfactory. It was just fine. We will stay here again.

We had originally booked the Magic for 1/17/04, but we ended up cancelling and booking NCL Dawn. We prefered sailing out of NY(since I really HATE to fly!!!!) We had a great time. I would love to try a Disney cruise someday, maybe in the future!

For al you that drive from the NY-New England area-- Where do you stop on the way home???? Fayetteville, NC is an option. SC is too soon for us.

OK-I am the orginial poster, I ended up using priceline for a room in Rocky Mount,NC. Now the problem. I got the Days Inn Golden East, I then found a really bad review on tripadvisor saying it was in a DANGEROUS area! Great! I just paid $75 for 2 rooms. My husband doesn't seem to be bothered. I am really hoping it was a bad experience for this one person and the motel is ok.

Any one know this area and motel?
