Driving from New England

This is our first time driving to Orlando from CT. Plan on stopping in Myrtle Beach for a few days first. Can anyone recommend a safe, clean and reasonably priced hotel for an overnight? Doubt we will drive the whole way. Most likely stop in NC. TIA

I believe Myrtle Beach is about an hor and a half off of route 95. Not sure if this is a definite part of your plan?

We are from MA and drive to Hilton Head frequently. We stop in Lumberton, NC. We live near Sturbridge and it is 13 hours. We leave at 6am which avoids all the rush hour traffic for Hartford, NY, Baltimore and Dc. We usually hit Lumberton aroun 7pm. (Just got back last Friday)

Two hotels I would recommend....basic but clean are the Best Western and Comfort Inn. There are two Comfort Inns....one is good and one is pretty bad. Check tripadvisor for the reviews. Sorry but I forget the address for the good one.

PS. Savannah is also a nice stop over. That is about four hours south of Lumberton but close to Route 95.

Where in NC do you want to stay? Only place we've stayed there is in Albemarle and it was a Hampton Inn & Suites. Very nice, but probably not on your way.

We will be takiing Interstate 95 all the way-I would say somewhere south of Wilson. Really not sure how much driving we can accomplish the first leg. This is our first trip w/o kids!

i live in ct and have driven three times. I don't know if this is really relevant since you say you want to visit myrtle beach first but just in case you don't, you need to at least get to lumberton, nc because that is about half way to orlando. The second day driving is brutal because all you want to do is get there.

We will definately be going to MB first. Staying there a few days then driving the rest of the way to Orlando(Clermont actually). On the return trip home we will only be stopping for an overnight pit stop. So I guess Lumberton it is!
